About this deal

The bottom player’s cards total 18 points, the player on the left has 9, the top player has 10, and the total for the right player is 12. To begin the game, all players can look at their two outer cards of the four face down cards in front of them. They may play for an agreed length of time or number of rounds, after which the player with the fewest points wins the game. To view the purposes they believe they have legitimate interest for, or to object to this data processing use the vendor list link below.

If a player believes they have the lowest score of the group, they may knock on the table during their turn and say “rat a tat cat”, ending the round. Learn the Trouble rules or read up on the Guess Who instructions, 2 classic board games designed for kids that have truly managed to stand the test of time. In fact, over the course of large numbers of games, it can be good strategy to sometimes even worsen the card a little so that it makes people think twice about swapping. If either of the outer cards are power cards, the player keeps them but they won’t get to use their powers (they only have their powers when drawn from the draw pile).

Without looking at his cards, each player places his four cards face down in a line on the table in front of him. If a "Swap" card is drawn, the player may switch one of his or her cards with one of any other player's cards. This game is inspired by the adult game, Cards Against Humanity, but unlike that game, this one is entirely appropriate for families. This game will help you connect with your older kiddos while making memories and giggling the night away.

The last type of power card is the “draw 2” card, which gives you the ability to draw one card and decide whether or not you want to keep it.

While Rat-a-Tat Cat isn’t the most educational game out there, it does still help kids learn things and build skills. Rat a Tat Cat is certainly a game that is a bit different from the norm but still has gameplay that’s easy for kids to understand while being great fun too. I just played my first 5 player game yesterday and did not enjoy a similar level of success when employing that strategy. While I doubt hardcore gamers who need a lot of strategy in their games will enjoy it, I actually did like the game and plan to keep it as a nice filler game.
