About this deal

First he turns the class troublemaker Hamish Bigmore into a frog, and then he gives Class Three magical flying powers! My 5-year-old loved listening to this, he's not old enough for Harry Potter, but this should lead nicely into The Worst Witch and eventually to Rowling's books. Books like Mr Majeika can transport us to places where anything is possible and help keep the magic of childhood alive. There are further numerous situations where magic is used within the book, but from a readers perspective it is clear that the character of Mr Majeika is not making these situation occur intentionally but rather they are just out of his control.

Within this creepy hotel some very spooky things starts to happen and immediately captures the reader’s attention. All of the characters are unique in their own way: Melanie always cries, Pandora Green and Hamish are bullies and Thomas and Pete are just normal children and so is Jody. It's short but with lots of chapters, it takes the reader through several incidents in a school year.

He then proceeds to turn the class nuisance, Hamish Bigmore, into a frog and conveniently forgets what the reversing spell is.

It was adapted into a children's television series of the same title and produced for the ITV network by TVS. Unfortunately there's only one applicant - Hamish Bigmore's Uncle Wilf who is just as rude and bad-tempered as Hamish.Hamish Bigmore finds himself on the wrong end of Mr Majeika's powers after causing problems with his fellow students. He drops into the sleepy village of Much Barty, finding a post at St Barty's School as Class Three's new form-teacher, where he quickly befriends two of the children: Melanie Brace-Girdle and Thomas Grey. Undoubtedly the mixture of mystery and humour that catches the reader’s attention along with the well detailed illustrations of the main characters and important events is what makes this book so good. He wrote plays for radio and theatre and founded the children's drama group The Mushy Pea Theatre Company. However, he is no ordinary man, as is apparent when he flies into Class Three's boring lesson on a magic carpet, which he then turns into a bicycle, confounding the headmaster: Mr Majeika is a wizard!

This time there's a trip down a magic river, a battle to save St Barty's from the wrecking ball, and work experience for Class Three. Not as cool and trendy as other shows of its time, it would have been a huge hit just a few years earlier. The first example is during lunchtime when one of the student’s lunch drops onto the floor and Mr Majeika picks it up and asks the child “What is your favourite food”. I recommend Mr Majeika to parents or guardians seeking a light-hearted book about bumbling sorcerers in staid school environments. At some point in our childhoods, many of us would have wished that we could do magic so that we could fly or make things disappear and reappear again.Children will delight in these little moments and the glimpses of magic this amiable teacher offers us. Class Three is astonished when their new teacher, Mr Majeika flies in through the window on a magic carpet.

It is a book which has a lot of adventure and creativity expressed within it which is something that can be used to support children from Years 3-6, particularly because it helps with their own individual creativity. Mr Majeika uses a little magic to make the evening memorable but nasty Hamish Bigmore tells the local press and gets the wizard-teacher the sack. Comment: The spine or cover may be slightly worn but the book is otherwise in good condition and will provide thought provoking read! These are lovely classic, harmless stories that are playful and fun for kids to read and don't use complex language, so they're very easy reads.Throughout the 15 books in the series, Mr Majeika goes on weird and wonderful adventures with the children from St Barty’s.
