About this deal

With support for the ATX 3.0 standard, the Toughpower GF3 is an excellent choice for anyone looking to upgrade to newer graphics cards, ensuring compatibility with the latest hardware releases. If all you're looking to do is build yourself a nice affordable gaming rig, and you don't think you're going to be going all-in on content creation, the Intel Core i5-11600K might be one of the best processors on the market right now. You do have to contend with the frankly out of control power consumption and temperatures, which will add to the cost of your build once you factor in cooling and power, but this is probably the Intel processor to buy. On the other hand, liquid cooling involves circulating a liquid coolant through a series of pipes and a radiator to remove heat from the CPU. Liquid coolers are more expensive than air coolers but offer superior cooling performance and are generally quieter. Additionally, liquid coolers come in all-in-one (AIO) and custom loop configurations, making AIO models easier to install. But this is far more like it. As a mainstream six-core CPU, the Core i5 11600K is pointing itself directly at AMD's equivalently specced Ryzen 5 5600X, and here the benchmark battle across the board is a far more even contest. Firstly, a positive word about general temperatures. Unfortunately, the ambient temperature in my office at the moment is something similar to the fires of Mount Doom, but the Core i5-11600K paired with a 240mm AIO is handling things extremely well. Pre-heatwave, idle temperatures would hover between 26C-30C, while even in the fiery air it's sitting nicely at nothing more than 36C.

This is now arguably the go-to gaming CPU for 2021. In a world where prices for PC hardware has gotten to ludicrous levels it's incredibly refreshing to find something new which speaks to my price/performance sensibilities. If you're building a gaming PC you likely will be choosing your own anyway, but you don't get one included with the Core i5-11600K at all. So make sure you have one on your shopping list before you start building otherwise you're going nowhere. It's also where AMD gets a bonus point over Intel, including a pretty solid cooler in the box. This series of power supplies comes in power outputs including 750, 850, 1000, 1200, 1350 and 1650 watts.

What's more important, though, is how much of an improvement the Core i5-11600K brings over the Core i5-10600K. Again, this is mostly thanks to the way higher power consumption, but you're looking at a gigantic 24-44% jump in potential gaming performance. During gaming, temperatures generally top out between 60C and 65C in the most demanding titles, and the absolute highest I've seen during this review is 75C during a 10-minute Cinebench R23 multi-core benchmark run. As such, get your cooling spot on and you'll be enjoying a surprisingly frosty time with no fears of encountering throttling or reaching the absolute thermal limits. Even with a 125W TDP, the Core i5-11600K runs cooler at all times than my Ryzen 5 3600X which is in the exact same room, albeit with a smaller AIO cooler. The quiet operation of the cooler made for a more comfortable and distraction-free computing experience. Max Turbo Frequency refers to the maximum single-core processor frequency that can be achieved with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology. See www.intel.com/technology/turboboost/ for more information and applicability of this technology. Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics only: to use the Intel® Iris® Xe brand, the system must be populated with 128-bit (dual channel) memory. Otherwise, use the Intel® UHD brand.

Processors that support 64-bit computing on Intel® architecture require an Intel 64 architecture-enabled BIOS. For system builders, understanding the TDP of a CPU, such as the Intel Core i5-11600, is critical in choosing the right CPU cooler. A CPU with a high TDP will require a more robust cooler, such as a liquid cooling system, to prevent overheating. On the other hand, a CPU with a low TDP may be adequately cooled by a simple air cooler. Read more about CPU coolers below, along with our recommended coolers.

When selecting a computer case for a Intel Core i5-11600 CPU, it's important to consider the CPU's thermal design power (TDP), which indicates the amount of heat the CPU can generate under load. The higher the TDP of the CPU, the more heat it will produce, and the more crucial proper airflow becomes. System and Maximum TDP is based on worst case scenarios. Actual TDP may be lower if not all I/Os for chipsets are used.

It's also got PCIe 4.0 support too, though that is still a little disappointing from a platform and performance perspective at this early stage post-launch. Other highlights include support for PCIe 4.0 with up to 20 total PCI Express lanes, and with six cores and hyperthreading, the Core i5-11600K isn't a bad option for heavier workloads, either. The immediate eye would cast to the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (we'll have a review of that soon), but the Core i5-11600K shouldn't be ignored. Now, it does fall behind the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X in a few workloads, namely heavy-duty creative workloads like Blender and Adobe Premiere. That's pretty much to be expected, AMD has been extremely strong in these applications for a couple years now. But because the Intel Core i5-11600K is priced the way it is, gaming performance is much more important, as creative professionals are likely going to be jumping for something a bit more expensive anyways.See http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/hyper-threading/hyper-threading-technology.html?wapkw=hyper+threading for more information including details on which processors support Intel® HT Technology. Highlighting Shadow of the Tomb Raider and The Division 2 first because of their detailed CPU analysis, and it shows just what the CPU can do without really breaking a sweat. In The Division 2 benchmark, the average CPU utilization was at 66% with an overall average of 111 FPS. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the CPU scored an average game score of 141 FPS and a render score of 214 FPS. Both of these were on the highest graphics settings at 1080p.
