About this deal

Three years after the dismal joke of a movie "Guyver", we are greeted with a second attempt at bringing the mildly popular manga to into live action with the movie "Guyver: Dark Hero", a loose sequel of the first guyver movie. I had the pleasure of interviewing Writer/Director Steve Wang about his directorial career: soundcloud.com/the-important-cinema-club/interview-steve-wang-wont-sleep-till-the-last-punch-is-thrown As he struggles to find the purpose of the thing living inside him he is drawn to the caves of Utah where he will dicier the Guyver's true purpose.

Mythology Gag: Crane's Guyver Zoanoid armor has the same color scheme and spiky motif as Guyver III with Guyver II's damaged control metal. Although most of the acting isn't very impressive, The Guyver: Dark Hero is a well-paced and immensely entertaining sci-fi action film with a solid and likeable lead performance from David Hayter, well-shot and expertly choreographed fight scenes, terrific make-up and creature effects, an interesting story, and competent direction from Steve Wang. Ancient Astronauts: Mentioned in the first time with their ship seen here, they're responsible for making the first Zoanoid and Guyver units. Bloodier and Gorier: Than the first movie big time! Part of the whole reason the film was made as to emulate this part of the manga.Took a Level in Badass: Between movies Sean's activated his armor's head laser and improved his fighting skills, justified by the Guyver unit compelling him to fight as a vigilante. The American version of the film, distributed by New Line, cut several scenes to focus more on action than humor. Producer Yuzna expressed confusion at some of the choices. [1] Reception [ edit ] If you can get over the film’s blatant disregard for the property that inspired it, and enjoy it as a piece of B-movie madness, it’s actually a lot of fun. Jeffrey Combs shows up in the last act (playing a mad doctor, naturally), and as goofy and lumbering as they are, the various mutants have a curious charm. One of them looks a bit like an elephant.

Aqua-Type ( 水中型 , Suichū-Gata) are rare Zoanoids that are optimized for sub-aquatic combat and are rarely seen outside of the watery environments they are created to fight in. Greater-Scope Villain: Crane the Big Bad of the film, but he is another cog in Chronos' system and still working for Gouo/Guyot, another Zoalord presumably equal in rank to Balcus from the last movie. Processing usually takes a day or so on average (Although far briefer, and longer periods are possible); during this time, the subject is suspended inside a tank filled with amniotic and apparently hyperoxidated fluid (meaning, it can be breathed) and hooked up to feeding and monitoring cables. Interestingly, it is possible to prematurely interrupt processing, while the subject still is capable of taking a Zoanoid battleform; however, this will dramatically reduce their life span. For instance, when Genzo Makishima was processed into Enzyme-I, he estimated his remaining life span at a week, while the Enzyme-II's commander Guyot deployed died within an hour. What type of Zoanoid a subject becomes can apparently be set to an extent; some types are more 'common' in the population, and can easily be mass-produced - examples are Gregole, Vamore and Ramotith. It is apparently possible to turn any human subject into a Ramotith.Cons: *Should've been an actual cinematic film instead of a straight-to-video-film. *More Zoaniods and fight scenes. Zoanoid Striker yelling down to Zoanoid Ramsey is shown in two cuts in the theatrical version, one in the VHS cut. Like Both Screaming Mad George, Steve Wang was adept at creating monster effects, and Wang worked on the prosthetic effects for such films as Hellboy II, Alien: Resurrection and Predator. Unfortunately, neither George nor Wang has much skill at directing actors, and The Guyver is full of stilted, sometimes hilarious dialogue (“I’m sure the inventors of the atom bomb didn’t know what they were doing either”), and some blank-faced acting from some otherwise okay performers. Hybrid Monster: Crane uses a Guyver unit bonded to him in human form while transformed into his Hyper Zoanoid body to become a "Guyver Zoanoid".

As a Metal Gear Solid completionist, watching Guyver 2 is up there with watching every movie written by David Hayter, the star of the Guyver 2. Hayter as you may or may not know, is the iconic voice of Solid Snake, the lead character of the Metal Gear Solid series. So along with watching X-Men 1 or what have you, there’s this gargantuan beast of ultra-cheese and real life anime cliches. But somehow, mainly due to the sheer amount of costumed monsters, I found it charming. Its boring often, sure, but it’s two hours of faux alien conspiracy nutzoid Kung fu monster fights, and I just can’t give that a negative review in my heart of hearts. This movie was directed by prop maker Steve Wang, and the fights and stunts were done by a Japanese stunt team that used to do stunt work for the power rangers japan. Again, don't be predijust against this movie! Give it a try. Its hard making a cheap sci-fi action movie and this did very well in terms of quality and style. But to a fan, its really not good enough. When you compare it to the manga and comics. The Guyver is loosely based on Yoshiki Takaya's 1985 manga series Bio-Booster Armor Guyver. Before the film, the manga was adapted twice. It became an OVA in 1986 and a 12-episode series in 1989. There's also a 26-episode series that came out in 2005. Like the film, the manga follows a teenager who stumbles upon a miraculous alien device and uses its power to battle a corrupt corporation. The manga follows a monster of the week format, in which Chronos (spelled "Cronos" in the manga) sends increasingly deadly alien warriors to defeat The Guyver.David Hayter, who plays the Guyver, went onto voice Solid Snake in the critically acclaimed video game series Metal Gear Solid. Extended dialogue between Max, Misky and Castle at Dr Segawa's death scene. This also includes a little more footage of Sean spying on them. An international co-production of the United States and Japan, The Guyver follows a young man, Sean Barker (Armstrong), who discovers an alien artifact called "The Unit" which transforms him into an alien-hybrid super soldier called "The Guyver". Barker learns that a major corporation known as Chronos is after the Guyver unit, and soon discovers that the company seeks to genetically engineer monsters. The film was met with a mixed reaction from critics and fans. A sequel followed in 1994 called Guyver: Dark Hero. Let's get this point out of the way first. It's not a brilliant movie. It's a low-budget movie, with some seriously bad acting (David Hayter seems to have about 4 facial expressions in the movie). So why do I find it so appealing. Sean Barker became the unwilling host to an alien bio-armor known as the Guyver. A year ago he destroyed the Kronos Corporation, an organization of mutants who want the Guyver. Now he is trying to find why the Guyver unit forces him to fight and kill evil.
