About this deal

Let’s jump in to a little refresher on what happened in Daughter of No Worlds. My next post will be a recap of book 2, Children of Fallen Gods. My Mother Is The Best Mama In The World T-Shirt, Mothers Day Gift, Mommy And Me Outfit, Mom And Daughter, Mommy And Me Matching Shirt Ahzeen takes Tisaanah to his office to whip her. Tisaanah knows that Resahye draws from very deep magic, perhaps deep enough that it can circumvent the effects of the Chryxalis. She calls upon Resahye and turns herself over to it completely, killing Ahzeen and once again losing control. I’ve seen many Throne of Glass comparisons floating around, but I’m not sure I agree with it. If anything, I’d say it’s a genderbent Spartacus retelling, plus some ✨ magic ✨ thrown in. But the next morning, after Max leaves, Reshaye realizes what happened between Max and Tisaanah and flies into a jealous rage. It disappears, leaving Tisaanah without its power.

I was not was engaged with characters. There was a lot of hype about this book. It didn’t live up to the hype. I will try the second book to see if it get better. Read more But then, they realize that during the toast, Ahzeen drugged them with Chryxalis, a rare drug that cuts off a Wielder from their magic. Max, Sammerin, and Nura are taken into captivity. The way she sacrificed everything just to save her friends and her town safe ejdnrkeududyeo queen/ badass behavior right there 😩👀🤭🤌🏻 AND HER RELATIONSHIP WITH SEREL?!? That was so so wholesome I wanna cry now 😭🥺 i love carissa broadbents writing. although serpant and wings of night has a place in my heart this book was really good and easy to fall into. i find myself struggling between a 3.5 or 4 so im giving it a 3.75 but disclaimer: just bc i lowered my rating doesn’t mean i didn’t enjoy it as much, i just had some issues with it and ultimately didn’t vibe as much with it as i would have wanted to I really liked the writing. There’s something about it that felt poetic and not in a way that’s cheesy. I think it captures the fantasy world/setting really well and gets the personalities of the characters across.

I've been concerning teachers and parents with mercilessly grim tales since I was roughly nine years old. Since then, my stories have gotten (slightly) less depressing and (hopefully a lot?) more readable. Today, I write fantasy novels with a heaping dose of badass ladies and a big pinch of romance. But she will stop at nothing to save those she abandoned. Even if it means forfeiting her freedom and sacrificing her heart. THERE WERE SOME HEAVY themes in this book which I thought added complexity to the story - war, mass slaughter, slavery, rape, etc. Due to these heavier themes, I would say this leans more towards new adult/adult than YA Max reveals that he was considered responsible for the crown’s victory at Sarlazai, a brutal victory that left many civilians dead. He also reveals that Ryvenai rebels killed his entire family in an act of retaliation for his father’s loyalist stance.

The weapon is a sentient being named Reshayethat occupies Tisaanah’s mind. Reshaye shows Tisaanah visions from its past and its time with Max. During this time, Tisaanah sees a vision of what truly happened in Sarlazai – that Nura used her mind magic to force Max’s mental walls down and let Reshaye free, who unleashed destruction across the city. She also sees the truth of what happened to Max’s family – that Reshaye, in a possessive rage, murdered them using Max’s body. First impressions of Daughter of No Worlds were very good. The prose is strong and beautiful, the premise that Broadbent sets up is familiar (I mean this in the best way—stories that are most memorable to me blend the familiar and the new, and this is something that Broadbent accomplishes fabulously, but I digress.) That familiar concept: Tisaanah is sold into slavery after conflict tears apart everything she knows. She is beautiful and unique. When we see her in the first chapters, the slave trade has landed her in a brothel/bawdy house/performance house setup, where she is on the verge of buying her freedom. Things go wrong (as they do) and Tisaanah survives in an incredibly moving scene where she— is it a spoiler if it happens in the first chapters? I don’t know, I’m new at reviewing! Suffice it to say “Look at me” gave me goddamn SHIVERS and I knew I was going to fall in love with Tisaanah in a hurry.

Be Kind T-shirt, Be Kind Shirt in a World Where You Can Be Anything, Be Kind Shirt, Be Nice T-shirt, Anti-Bullying T-shirt, Teacher T-shirt Ready to jump into Mother of Death and Dawn but feeling like you need a refresher on what’s happened so far in the story? No worries! I, too, have the memory of a goldish. Once, many years ago, he had told me that his grandfather used to say that every moment in life was a coin with one dark side and one light. They fell on the ground with one side facing up, but the other always lay beneath it, there, but hidden. Serel always saw both sides of the coin, even when fate handed him nothing but darkness.”

Zeryth and Nura want Tisaanah to wield a very particular weapon and have been testing her all along for her ability to do this. They also reveal that this is why they had Max train her – because he was the last person to successfully wield this weapon. Tisaanah demands a Blood Pact: she will be their weapon, if they will immediately go to Threll now to help her friends at the Mikov estate, and then go to Threll again after their war is over. Our main characters have major Celaena Sardothien x Rowan Whitethorn vibes, so I think that this book is perfect for Throne of Glass lovers. The fact that they’re both forced to train together and Max wants absolutely nothing to do with Tisannah until she eventually grows on him 👀… the forced proximity, the months of training together, the friendship that forms… AHH I LOVED IT ALL ❤️ Daughter of No Worlds felt like it was written just for me, an impeccable balance of all my favourite things in Romantic Fantasy executed with grace and with the kind of weight that I like to see. It almost feels like a conversation with Kushiel’s Dart. The premise is so similar and yet the execution is miles apart. Kushiel’s Dart wanted to have a conversation about women and sex in SFF, but Daughter of No Worlds wanted to celebrate women and romance in SFF.PDF / EPUB File Name: Daughter_of_No_Worlds_-_Carissa_Broadbent.pdf, Daughter_of_No_Worlds_-_Carissa_Broadbent.epub A former slave fighting for justice. A reclusive warrior who no longer believes it exists. And a dark magic that will entangle their fates.Ripped from a forgotten homeland as a child, Tisaanah learned how to survive with nothing but a sharp wit an... That day, Zeryth also announces that he will be returning to Ara, leaving Tisaanah, Nura, and the Syrizen to go to the Esmaris estate to confront Ahzeen by themselves. He does, however, present Tisaanah with an invitation he had received to a part of powerful Threllians thrown by Ahzeen Mikov. I gave this a shot, largely on the very lovely cover (though the blurb didn't hurt, either). I made it nearly two-fifths through before putting it down and now I just don't feel like continuing. I was very ready to like Tisaanah and heaven knows that her situation invokes every sympathy I have, not to mention the inner paladin that cries out to right the wrongs done her. Starting with the characters!! ✨ OMG I LOVE THEM SM 🥺🥺🥺 For me, there's nothing better than when I absolutely fall in love with a cast of characters- and this book DELIVERED on that.
