Connolly himself was also excited about the impact that the whiskey distillery and heritage centre could have. Connemara and other brands associated with Cooley like The Tyrconnell have been owned by Beam Suntory since 2012. Galway hurling legend Joe Connolly recently launched his plans to open a whiskey distillery and heritage centre in Connemara. When it was first launched in 1999, it was the first smoky Irish whiskey to be produced for generations.

This malt has been triple distilled and, as well as being created to reflect the landscape of Ireland’s West coast, it’s also a great expression of the long history of Whisky distilling that has gone on before it.
