I've interleaved a slew of screen captures of the Universal, the two Scream's, and Arrow so you can appreciate the differences between each.The rear channels are employed often for directional effects and atmospherics, while the height channels complete the soundfield overhead and engage more actively for an occasional bit of sonic lift—explosions, flying helicopters, creature aggressions, etc. I’m one of those, and with that devotion comes some heated discussion about benefits and detriments to any release. What most fans don't know is that when a producer of the new film who worked with Carpenter on the original told Carpenter that a prequel was in the works, he wished them well and was happy that someone deemed his nearly 30-year-old movie worth revisiting. The expanded contrast deepens the shadows beautifully, with pleasing inky blacks, and adds a bolder luminosity to flashlights, flames, and the bright white daytime exterior landscapes. But even in quieter conversational moments, I felt like there was more height and atmospheric effects than before.

However, the shots at around one hour and seven minutes when the guys are walking with flares have a really nice color effect with HDR. Then he wowed audiences with one of his best films, 1981's Escape from New York, marking the latest of many collaborations with Kurt Russell. I have seen both versions on my set up at home which is Bose quality and the "Scream factory" Blu-ray blows the Arrow Blu-ray away on sound and picture quality.The palette is beautiful, thanks to the 10-bit color gamut, with notably richer hues, greater variation in subtle shadings, and a color balance that’s right in the sweet spot between the SDR grades for previous Scream Factory and Arrow Video releases. The Scream Factory 2K scan came first and it was fine but had some revisions done to it including changing the colors of the flares for no reason. Instead, it builds upon the first film, enhances what you know, and perfectly fills in some blanks along the way. I also liked this featurette because it was, like most of the new featurettes found on this disc, produced by Red Shirt Pictures. I have to give it to Arrow because, at the end of the day, they seemed to care more about the film and way it is presented, both as a film and as a package.
