About this deal

understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region of the United Kingdom, a region in a European country, and a region in North or South America It is our intent that pupils with special educational needs/disabilities (SEND) follow the same curriculum, learn alongside their peers and achieve similar outcomes. Students will learn how to apply knowledge and understanding to interpret, analyse and evaluate geographical information and issues to make judgements (AO3) and will be able to select, adapt and use a variety of skills and techniques to investigate questions and issues and communicate findings (AO4). A high-quality geography education should inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Teaching should equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. As pupils progress, their growing knowledge about the world should help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills provide the framework and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time. Aims key physical features, including: beach, cliff, coast, forest, hill, mountain, sea, ocean, river, soil, valley, vegetation, season and weather

Next, students will look more closely at the physical geography of the UK where the concept of landscape will be introduced and developed. Fundamental physical process knowledge and understanding is key to this topic and students will use atlases and OS maps as well as a wider range of skills to explore these ideas, concepts and processes. Year 13 students will have a full range of advanced geographical and life skills and be fully prepared for their A-Level exams and for the next stage of their journey post-Edgbarrow School. The National Curriculum for England was launched in September 2014. The KS3 statutory Programme of Study (PoS) for geography is concise and sets out the core knowledge that students should acquire. Students will improve their knowledge of locations, places, processes and environments at different scales (AO1) and be able to demonstrate geographical understanding of concepts and how they are used in relation to places, environments and processes and the interrelationships between places, environments and processes (AO2).

geographical topics are defined as being either ‘human’ or ‘physical’ with links between them identified where appropriate the concepts of places, space and spatial variation, scale, change over time and interconnectedness are mentioned. Although sustainability is not separately mentioned, it could be included as part of work on natural resources, population and other topics.

there is a requirement to carry out fieldwork so that primary data can be acquired, processed, presented and analysed In addition, they may benefit from additional opportunities in the lessons and in the co-curricular activities that are arranged especially for them.Geography helps students experience the awe and wonder of the world, to understand their place in it and how they can have a positive impact at a local, national and global scale. Geography is essentially the study of everything! identify the position and significance of latitude, longitude, Equator, Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, Arctic and Antarctic Circle, the Prime/Greenwich Meridian and time zones (including day and night)
