About this deal

There isn’t much information about Kettleburn’s wand, except that it was 11 ½’’ long, made of chestnut wood and described as whippy. This was the wand carried by Hermione Granger throughout her years at Hogwarts. Harry used her wand on two occasions, firstly in June 1994 to stun Snape so he could learn about Peter Pettigrew and secondly when Hermione accidentally broke his wand in December 1997. The wand was lost after it was left behind after their escape from Malfoy Manor.

Standing 15 feet tall and set within concrete bases, the nine wands – bringing to life those belonging to some of the favourite characters in the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films – will illuminate each evening, performing a light show to the thrilling music from the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter films.FEBRUARY 2022 – The stunning Wizarding World [w]and installation is set to visit four locations in the UK this [s]pring to celebrate the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledorein cinemas on 8th April 2022. BEHIND-THE-SCENES MOVIE FACTS: Wand-related facts, trivia, and stories from the set of the Harry Potter films.

I think it's therefore pretty safe to say that JKR at least had an idea of what the wands looked like, even if she didn't necessarily spell it out in the books. And I think that idea is basically a conventional magic wand. Also in the first three video games via the PS2/Xbox/GameCube versions, Harry's wand glowed at the tip with its lighting effects "leaking" from the said tip. The colour often varies however: Hagrid's wand is disguised as “a battered pink umbrella”. Philosopher's Stone ch. 4 gives that brief description, and together with ch. 5 the books makes it plain that that's where his wand is, though Hagrid is not allowed to admit it. I believe that your wand imbibed some of the power and qualities of Voldemort’s wand that night, which is to say that it contained a little of Voldemort himself. So your wand recognised him when he pursued you, recognised a man who was both kin and mortal enemy, and regurgitated some of his own magic against him. Your wand now contained the power of your enormous courage and of Voldemort's own deadly skill." — Harry's wand's reaction to Lord Voldemort [src]

Harry's wand was well suited to him, in a lot of ways a perfect match. Harry had a notorious temper, that at times made him somewhat terrifying to his friends. He also was shown to be impulsive, making many decisions on the fly. Harry faced a spiritual and dangerous quest when he, Ron, and Hermione went a hunt for Voldemort's Horcruxes. This quest tested his limits and shook the faith he had in himself and those around him, but at the same time made him a stronger individual. Holly is one of the rarer kinds of wand woods; traditionally considered protective, it works most happily for those who may need help overcoming a tendency to anger and impetuosity. At the same time, holly wands often choose owners who are engaged in some dangerous and often spiritual quest. [26] I don't recall JKR describing the wands in great detail in the books, apart from wandlore descriptions like "made of such-and-such wood" or "inflexible" or "dragon heart string core".

In the PS2 version of Chamber of Secrets, the Wand's tip doesn't glow, but only when Harry casts an imperfect self-hitting spell it will glow red (present in the Xbox and GameCube versions as well as the Philosopher's Stone's latest gen console versions). The third was 8 ½’’ long, made of ebony and its core of unicorn hair. It was described as springy. One more Ollivander’s wand was tried out in 1984 by Jacob’s brother. It was made of apple, 9’’ long, with its core made of dragon heartstring.

In the aforementioned versions of Philosopher's Stone and the console versions of Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry's wand leaks out green sparkles in nod to his iconic green eyes (and is the colour associated with him in the PC and console versions of Goblet of Fire when he's near a charm-able target). Installation consists of nine 15ft-tall [ sic] wands representing nine beloved characters from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films

In October 2021, the installation appeared again in London, in Leicester Square,to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film. The Harry Potter: Magic Caster Wand is estimated to ship in early December 2022. Estimated ship date is subject to change. Mr Ollivander’s famous statement ‘the wand chooses the wizard’ rings just as true for the Elder Wand as any other. However, according to J.K. Rowling, there are some distinct tendencies in its manner of choosing: ‘The Elder Wand knows no loyalty except to strength. So it’s completely unsentimental. It will only go where the power is.’ Hull, which received the most public votes, will launch the tour, followed by Birmingham [and] Stoke-on-Trent and ending in Reading. The full dates and locations are: With that in mind, consider the Elder Wand’s decisions in the final two books. The stand-off between Draco and Dumbledore was fraught with emotion – Dumbledore knew he was about to die while Draco raged an internal war with his own morality. At Malfoy Manor, Draco was once again conflicted while Harry was determined to escape and finish his quest. In both scenes, emotions ran high and everything was at stake. It was enough to affect the Elder Wand, even when it was not present at the scene.

The four chosen locations - Hull, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Reading - were voted for by the public and will each host the exciting installation for seven days. Holly wands are said to be suited to wizards who need assistance overcoming anger issues, and those engaged in a dangerous and spiritual quest. Harry Potter dealt with overcoming anger in his adolescent years, partially caused by a shared connection with Lord Voldemort through the fragment of soul Voldemort accidentally left inside Harry. He was also prophesied to be the one to kill Voldemort, and engaged in a year-long hunt for Horcruxes in an attempt to fulfil this prophecy. Ollivander also noted that a mix of holly and phoenix feather, if properly matched, would result in a nigh-unstoppable wizard. We don't find out much about the appearance of other wands from the scene in Stone ch. 5 when Harry visits Ollivanders' shop. I don't think even Harry gets to see a large variation of them: “A single wand lay on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window”, and there were “the thousands of narrow boxes piled neatly right up to the ceiling”. The text doesn't describe the wands that Harry tries in that shop.
