Overall, I enjoyed the book — definitely worth a read if you're a fan of shows like "Downton Abbey" and you're looking for a fluffy (yet dramatic) holiday romance! All books have been amazing…Was spellbound [and] couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read another…’ - Dilly Court (born 1940) is an English author of popular historical fiction and family saga novels also writing under the pseudonym of Lily Baxter. [1] She published her first book when she was 65 and, as of 2023 [update], her novels have sold more than four million copies. [1] Early life [ edit ]Her heart may have been broken by love but it’s big enough to help those less fortunate than herself, and Nancy takes these unloved orphans in – but when one of them is accused of a serious crime, the neighbourhood turns against her. This is the second book out of a six part series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a huge fan of the author, she never disappoints. It's well written with some great characters who are well rounded and believable. I like Rosalind, she's level headed and knows what she wants. But will she find happiness with Alex? You'll have to read the book to find out. The colder the cruel grip of winter grows, the more mouths she finds herself having to feed. Can Nancy’s good heart and strength bring them all through? Despite her impressive sales, her books have largely been ignored by critics. In 2020, Robbie Millen, literary editor for The Times, admitted that he hadn't previously heard of Court and that his paper had never reviewed any of her titles, nor had other major British newspapers. [6] Personal life [ edit ] Dilly Court is a Sunday Times bestselling author of over thirty novels. She grew up in North East London and began her career in television, writing scripts for commercials. She is married with two grown-up children and four grandchildren, and now lives in Dorset on the beautiful Jurassic Coast with her husband.

A chance encounter brings Nancy Sunday to the streets of London, where she finds herself amongst a band of street urchins. I foresee happiness for you, Nancy. I hear bells and I see snow, and your heart’s desire comes true’Court has been married twice (in 1967, to a sea captain, and in 1995, to a dentist) and has two children.
