About this deal

Girl, Goddess, Queen is simply divine. Bea has woven a classic myth with an electrifying romance and a witty, fiercely modern twist. Beautifully written, utterly glorious, and fabulously powerful, this is a definite must-read that should be at the top of everyone's TBR pile!' - Beth Reekles Graves also argues that the names of the Ogham letters in the alphabet used in parts of Gaelic Ireland and Britain contained a calendar that contained the key to an ancient liturgy involving the human sacrifice of a sacred king, and, further, that these letter names concealed lines of Ancient Greek hexameter describing the goddess. The White Goddess has been seen as a poetic work where Graves gives his notion of man's subjection to women in love an "anthropological grandeur" and further mythologises all women in general (and several of Graves's lovers in particular) into a three-faced moon goddess model. The White Goddess: a Historical Grammar of Poetic Myth is a book-length essay on the nature of poetic myth-making by the English writer Robert Graves. First published in 1948, the book is based on earlier articles published in Wales magazine; corrected, revised and enlarged editions appeared in 1948, 1952 and 1961. The White Goddess represents an approach to the study of mythology from a decidedly creative and idiosyncratic perspective. Graves proposes the existence of a European deity, the "White Goddess of Birth, Love and Death", much similar to the Mother Goddess, inspired and represented by the phases of the Moon, who lies behind the faces of the diverse goddesses of various European and pagan mythologies. I’d recommend this book to those wanting to try something new with their health and/or lifestyle, without having to make drastic changes.’ – Rowena

This Method has been used by thousands to regulate their glucose, and the results are astonishing. You will gain boundless energy, curb your cravings, clear your skin, slow your ageing process, reduce inflammation, rebalance your hormones, improve your mood and sleep better than you have ever done before. You will create positive new habits for life. The best part? You won't be counting calories, and you'll eat everything you love. Please note that these Goddess books are specifically about that – Goddesses. There are many other books I could recommend about women’s spirituality, the Divine Feminine and more, but it is the Goddesses I am asked most about and so I’ve chosen to focus on those here. British-Nigerian Okojie’s wildly weird short-story collection has at its centre the extraordinary tale of a heart-devouring (literally and metaphorically), shape-shifting sea goddess named Kiru, who comes ashore on a small island inhabited by eunuchs with the intention of falling in love. After each (disappointing) encounter with a potential lover, she eats their hearts and transforms into a different alluring woman. It’s a brilliantly strange metaphor for female beauty as an empty or hollow construct. The collection is unsettling, magical, transporting, unforgettable. While they loved a wide range of the recipes from the book, breakfast was a particular favourite. Rowena's favourites were the Two Egg Omelette and Apple With Some Clothes On, while Braden and Sophie loved the fruit/yoghurt-based dishes. The White Goddess: a Historical Grammar of Poetic Myth; edited by Grevel Lindop (Manchester: Carcanet) ISBN 1-85754-248-7 a b Hutton, Ronald (1993). The Pagan Religions of the Ancient British Isles: Their Nature and Legacy. John Wiley & Sons. p.145. ISBN 9780631189466. Graves argues that "true" or "pure" poetry is inextricably linked with the ancient cult-ritual of his proposed White Goddess and of her son. In addition, Braden reminds anyone who wants to try the method that you don’t have to follow it perfectly 100% of the time. ‘There’s no pressure if you miss a step or day along the way. If you go easy on yourself and embrace the challenge with an open mind, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the flexibility and freedom this method provides, and how the simple but effective changes can really improve your overall health for the better.’ Who should try it

The White Goddess: a Historical Grammar of Poetic Myth, Amended & enl. ed.[i.e. 4th ed.] (London: Faber & Faber) [US ed.= New York, Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1966] Awakening Shakti by Sally Kempton:This one’s for all the yogi’s in the house – and even for those like me who flail about on the mat and hope you’re doing it right! This lush text by Sally Kempton pays homage to the Hindu Goddesses and the sacred feminine principle of Shakti. Sally brings you close to the heart and inspiration of Kali Ma, Lakshmi, Radha and many other Hindu Goddesses in a beautiful read. This is possibly in the top 3 books I have ever read. The level of detail and corroboration of facts is beyond anything I have seen outside of a University text. language of poetic myth anciently current in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe was a magical language bound up with popular religious ceremonies in honour of the Moon-goddess, or Muse, some of them dating from the Old Stone Age, and that this remains the language of true poetry...Ellis, Peter Berresford (1997).
