About this deal

Although the midrange is not emphasized with this monitor, the Hi-X60’s midrange is impressive with its natural and tamed presentation. It has a great amount of detail retrieval with a very clean presentation. Treble The headphone is made up of mostly metal parts, especially the moving parts. The bow of the headband uses a metal rail inlay that has grooves that serve as the guide for the adjustment mechanism. On the other hand, the Hi-X60 is a bit heavier and has a tighter clamp on an over-ear design. Despite greater clamp force and heavier overall, the Hi-X60 is more comfortable to use over longer periods. Performance

They also have a slightly boosted bass. It is not egregious, but is slight eyebrow-raiser in a pro headphone. At this price, there’s little to criticise when it comes to dynamic expression and low-frequency punch either. The Hi-X50 simply get on with the job with little fuss. They sound a little forward, and are more direct and less spacious compared with the over-ear Hi-X55, but beyond that the two share pretty much the same sonic signature, as would be expected by the similarity of design. Verdict Items that are likely to wear out with use, such as the earpads and headband cushion, are easily replaceable, so these headphones should provide many years’ service. The cable, too, is detachable and replaceable, though we have a minor gripe here: at 3m, the cable supplied is for all practical purposes for home listening only.M70x - high resolution, sometimes harsh, but less than Hi-x55 because of the hybrid pads (doesn't much resonant) Austrian Audio boasts that the 44mm dynamic driver is the optimal size, thus using it for their wide range of headphones including the Hi-X55.

The earcups hinge to make the volume of the unit more reasonable when in transport. These headphones are made with portability in mind, and are certainly not intended purely for home use. Since both headphones are designed for studio use, they have similar tonality. There are just 2 main differences, and it’s that the Hi-X55 has a bit more sub-bass rumble to speak of and that the Hi-X55 has a slight treble peak. With their wealth of experience from their work in AKG, the team behind Austrian Audio just hit the ground running. They have produced microphones and 2 headphones, the on-ear Hi-X50, and now the over-ear version Hi-X55. Again, don't forget the price difference between the Hi-X65 and the K812! In its price range, the Hi-X65 is certainly a hit! It's certainly worth a listen! Despite being designed by a relatively new company, the Hi-X55 is a very mature product that shouldn’t just be confined to the studio. Plenty of regular audiophiles will enjoy this also. Austrian Audio Hi-X55 Specifications

Austrian Audio Hi-X25BT

The Austrian Audio Hi-X55 are headphones made for music production, but several features make them more practical than most classic studio pairs. With durability in mind, the Hi-X55 is equipped with quite a few metal parts, especially the parts that are most susceptible to wear and tear. And this includes all the hinges and the bow on the top of the headband. Planar magnetic headphones typically have a lot of advantages when it comes to speed when compared to their dynamic driver counterparts. But when I started listening to the two headphones, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Hi-X55 can catch up to the AEON’s speed. Anyway, in short, X55 is harsh because it is designed to sound critical, or maybe brutal, toward mixes. I find it personally still quite well-tuned. And after my first day, I will say I get accustomed to its sound. Coming from Grado and Sennheiser, X55 really feels like a new paradigm for listening to music. When parent company Harman closed AKG's development and manufacturing facilities in Vienna, Austrian Audio rose phoenix-like from the ashes. Their first products were the OC818 and OC18, microphones that drew on AKG's heritage while incorporating 21st-Century innovation. Austrian Audio have followed up by revisiting another key area of AKG expertise: headphone design.
