About this deal

I didn't realize that L.J. Ross was starting a new series this year and I was so happy by this surprise! Engagingly told, this was a nice addition to the books already published by this author. While hardly a police procedural, it did have the right amount of mystery for a work of women's fiction. So if you're in the market for a story about something that could easily happen to any of us a tragic incident resulting in psychological issues that also includes a touch of mystery, give this book a whirl. I liked the super small town feel of the community, and the relationship that the heroine had with her boss and landlady was lovely. My only complaint is that it could've been longer and the ending felt very rushed. Author notches up 100,000 book sales in just two years". Morpethherald.co.uk . Retrieved 2 February 2016.

Kādā jaukā rudens sākuma brīvdienā man ienāca prātā papildināt savu mansijas kopšanu ar kādu vieglu detektīvu audio formātā. Nolēmu pārbaudīt kaut ko no Audible pakaļmetamā [lasi - bezmaksas] kataloga. Local lass LJ Ross tops the charts with thriller Cragside". www.morpethherald.co.uk . Retrieved 21 October 2019. ABOUT LJ ROSS LJ Ross is an international bestselling author, whose books have sold over 8 million copies worldwide. Lastly, there was just SO many cliches. So many phrases that just grated because yes, they do the job, but isn't there a fresher way to say them?! Some of them (quite literally) interrupted the flow or reading because I just had to roll my eyes! This might be personal taste, too, but I found them detracting from the story. And what is going on with the italics?! Are they thoughts? Sentences? Stage directions? What do they MEAN?! They seem to be used for such different purposes and, again, they broke my focus because they were so unnecessary and confusing. The series begins with him being the only member of an elite criminal profiling unit to escape from a storm of scandal and mismanagement. He is adamant he will begin a quiet life, but a murderer loose in the beautiful hills of County Mayo, Ireland draws him into the murder investigation to aid the Garda.

Lady's Well is another fantastic addition to this tremendous series. I always enjoy engaging with the stories of L. J. Ross, and Lady's Well did not disappoint. I sometimes had to laugh with the characters and how they interacted throughout this book. I love L. J. Ross's portrayal of his characters and their interaction with each other throughout this book. Lady's Well is well-written and researched by L. J. Ross. I like L. J. Ross's description of the settings of Lady's Well, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot. Alongside her work as an author, LJ is behind Read Write Walk North East, the Lindisfarne Prize for Crime Fiction and the Northern Photography Prize.A good 90% of the story is seen from Gabrielle's POV, with the odd sentence in the middle of a chapter suddenly clearly being from someone else's POV. You don't have to be Virginia Woolf, but if you do head-hopping within chapters, you have to be good and you have to be consistent. That just wasn't the case here. Towards the end there's a few chapters consistently told from someone else's POV which I have no problem with, it's just this wishy-washy nonsense that makes me irrationally annoyed. Ross publishes all of her works independently through Dark Skies Publishing, a publishing imprint set up and managed by Ross and her husband. [7] Personal life [ edit ]

Louise was born in Northumberland, England. She studied undergraduate and postgraduate Law at King’s College, University of London and then abroad in Paris and Florence. She spent much of her working life in London, where she was a lawyer for a number of years until taking the decision to change career and pursue her dream to write. Now, she writes full time and lives with her husband and son in Northumberland and Edinburgh. She enjoys reading all manner of books, painting, travelling and spending time with family and friends. Another aspect I was initially concerned with was DCI Ryan's wife who has been known to take over the story and get too involved with police business (in my opinion). Again there is an interlude where she is seen at the local writer's club for aspiring author's and I thought this was going to distract from the plot. It does not. I think it is something that is being setup as a part of the next instalment in the series. The second book in the series follows Kate Irving, who arrives in Frenchman’s Creek with a small suitcase and her young son. She is escaping her past and wary of accepting new friendships, but soon finds herself embracing their kindness. Until tragedy strikes and her new friends are looking to her for answers. I am a huge fan of this author’s DCI Ryan series, so it was a delight to learn she was starting a new series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but I don’t have a real feel for what the series will be like. For instance – in the DCI Ryan series, I know that Ryan and his crew will be solving a crime in each book. I’m not sure that is the case with this series because the author wrapped up all of the loose ends and futures of all the main and subordinate characters in the epilogue. Future books in the series could certainly feature our main characters and the beautiful cove where they live, but the way this one wrapped up makes me wonder. Perhaps we’ll have a series comprised of mysteries taking place in various summer vacation spots and featuring different protagonists each time. It will be interesting to see. Police procedural mystery/romantic suspense series set in Northumbria, England following Detective Chief Inspector Ryan. LJ Ross said: "I feel especially grateful to my readership for their unstinting loyalty even 18 books into that series. I'm especially proud as an indie author and publisher who did not have anywhere near the same marketing spend as those placed #1 and #2 (or indeed the majority of the others on that list) who belonged to major publishing houses. It is Christmas and Gabrielle Adams is on top of the world. She has the job she has always wanted in a field she is passionate about, and she is engaged to a man she loves. That world falls out from under her when she becomes a victim of the ‘Underground Killer’ who pushes people off the underground train platforms in front of oncoming trains. Though her broken, battered, and bruised body survives, her mind is in a much more delicate state. The doctors assure her the nightmares, OCD, PTSD, etc. will get better over time, but it has been six months and she is tired of the pity (and impatience) she sees in everyone’s eyes. Her fiancé Mark is having an affair, she can’t handle working – and – well – she’s just got to walk away from it all. So, she does.
