About this deal

Cool Water is a natural entry point into the world of perfumes for men and I think it excels in that role. This is first and fore-most a sweet, aquatic scent with some florals and aromatics to give a bit of freshness and a bit of green spice. It's fair to say the scent is a bit synthetic but it's honestly balanced well enough that it's not unbearable unless you really really overspray. Mark my words- you will never see me changing my signature fragrance on my profile- this will be my uplifting morning start the day casual/ dumb grab "oh here comes Nathan" scent until the day I die. This feels very summery, and smells like a fragrant and expensive high end sunscreen or suntan lotion, and the pool/beach. There's a bit of a salty note in there that really pulls it together in my opinion, but it may just be my chemistry. Pineapple and lotus are very prominent on my skin, and the entire composition just works so well. Classically aquatic; clean and refreshing without being sterile.

Doesn't have to be explained much further because it's been done thousands of times but one thing I'd like to note is the fact that some batches of it are awful. Right now it's February in Wisconsin, and one of the coldest Februaries I remember. I have always liked Cool Water but never had the courage to buy it -- at the time when it first came out, I was all about subtlety with fragrances and felt that this would be too strong. I was also between this and Vivid, and thought Vivid was a little more sophisticated, which is possibly true. CONS: it's weak to moderate longevity. Personally, I love the scent but not the performance in terms of longevity. You can get a lot of compliments from people who NEVER smelled someone with cool water. Yes, it is generic but it is a classic that you should have in your arsenal to change t hing sup a bit for hot days. And yes, it is a bit weaker in air conditioned places or colder climates and its longevity on suits and clothes is really short. So place them on your pulse spots and ur shoulders. I'm currently sat on a very hot train that's crowded and one person is wearing heavily applied Angel while I'm sat in my fresh, cool melon aura feeling serene and refreshed. As a kid, I thought Cool Water was simply the most incredible fragrance I ever smelled. It was a "soul satisfying" scent to me, and it evoked memories and nostalgia from a time I never even had. It was simply incredible, refreshing, and amazing, and STRONG. So I got this at Wal Mart with the intention of it being for myself. But when I bought it with my husband, I made a deal with him that if he really liked it he could have it as his options for fragrances he has and likes to use are limited because he normally only looks woodsy, amber, musk scents. This is miles ahead of the two other blue/aquatic cheapies I own, Nautica Voyage and Azzaro Chrome, which are not suited for anyone older than 14 and even one spray of which could be nausea inducing for some. Unlike those, Cool Water is actually wearable, and comes in a really nice, barbershop style glass bottle. I bought the big 200ml bottle and don't regret it at all. i'm going to preface this review by saying i am biased - i have strong nostalgic and emotional ties to this cologne.

The opening is quite sharp and astringent, reminding me of a swimming pool but in a kind of nostalgic way. Melon is instantly noticeable after initial application and stays there throughout development, I get a lot of waterlily and something that feels "grassy" along with a cold dewy sort of feeling from the calone. I can't say I notice any of the other fruits or florals and the pencil shaving woody notes of my previous bottle are non existent. Cool Water dries down to a light melon shower gel skin scent by about the 3hr mark and stays like that until I take a shower. I’m a big fan of anything that comes in a blue bottle, mostly because they usually have airy, water smells. But Cool Water is as close a classic as I can call a scent like this. It’s classy, it’s strong, and it always makes me take a moment to stop and enjoy it whenever my husband (and one of my older, married coworkers that happens to have it and use it on rare occasions) uses it and wow, I honestly can’t get over it at times. Most importantly Cool Water has not a freaking spec of nauseating creamy heavy vanilla sweetness (Modern fragrances have made me lactose fragrant intolerant) It's sweetness is more an herbal oceanic sweetness that dances off all the other notes- a sweetness made by god, not man in a bakery.

This is a really hard scent to rate. I love having it because I can overspray before working out or just heading out to the store and not worry about running out. It's a nice scent but it's obviously nothing all that unique and the performance is pretty bad. Our homerooms were awash in the oversprayed underwashed masses of boys on the verge of adolescence with teachers and the young sunflower drenched girls as our casualties.

I will say this smell is outdated, but I would personally wear it anyways, I honestly enjoyed it, also if you are looking for uniqueness I guess this would be it now because there's not many frags been worn like this from what I experience when I'm out and about. Davidoff introduced Cool Water for Women a decade following the original Cool Water for Men, and it's like a refreshing dip in the ocean. This floral aquatic fragrance exudes a serene aura reminiscent of ocean breezes and cooling seawater, accompanied by a fusion of fruits and woods. Overall it’s pretty close to the skin and not super long lasting. It smells slightly too masculine and powdery for my preference. I don’t like it but it is a cheapie. Yes, it is true that our noses and olfactory senses change as we grow and become accustomed to newer scents in life. However, the extreme manner in which Cool Water has been destroyed is not simply due to maturing olfactory senses. What Davidoff has done to Cool Water is a tragedy and it is very real.

This is quite a ubiquitous scent and instantly springs to mind whenever someone mentions a scent is "aquatic". I've had Cool Water previously but it was my mother's part used bottle and was the "deodorant spray" rather than the actual EdT, it also had turned and smelt like overripe melon and pencil shavings so I binned it.It is barely even a hint of its former self. If I had smelled this blindly, I would not think "Oh, that must be Cool Water" nor would I think "That smells good". I would think "Who is wearing that extremely faint insect repellent or boring cleaning product?" Our battlegrounds, I like to believe smelled as the Creed lab that created Green Irish Tweed would have before its perfection. Uplifting peppermint rosemary geranium neroli (Prozac in a fragrance) perfectly balanced with sexy base notes to solidify you are happy energetic yet masculine with a youthful oceanic calone watery note that keeps this youthful and forever in your 20's.
