Her thoughts were, once erected, garden statues and she looked at them as she followed her path through the garden. Part 2 of my conversation with Scott. I start by messaging Scott some photos. You see the first one? Scott: Beautiful. Ahhh, … Read More »

Eldredge claims that men are bored; they fear risk, they refuse to pay attention to their deepest desires. He challenges Christian men to return to what he characterizes as authentic masculinity without resorting to a "macho man" mentality. Men often seek validation in venues such as work, or in the conquest of women, Eldredge observes. He urges men to take time out and come to grips with the desires of their hearts. Eldredge frames the book around his outdoor experiences and anecdotes about his family and references elements of pop culture such as the film Braveheart and lyrics from songs.I got that Joana was often unhappy and happy at the same time; that she was disassociated from other people, that she was having trouble integrating her self with her body, that she had a horror of being trapped and an obsession with freedom. All of that is real to me.

(p. 47) I almost did not post my thoughts about this book. I seem to be the only person on the internet who doesn't think this book is amazing. A collection of Clarice Lispector's short short stories was published in 2015 and got lots of attention as well as praise. I got curious. As usual, I started with her first novel. Last book was all about the tears, this time there was much to feel utterly flabbergasted about. Me: Ha ha, yes! I know, just to inflate my ego, what do you think of this wonderful Wildhearts book ‘Zealot in Wonderland this chancer Gar…I'm sorry, my dear Viper, I'm afraid I've fallen out of love with you. You were too much of a selfish, grumpy jerk for my liking, and despite all the laughs you managed to raise out of me, and the emotions you were able to stir inside of me, I need to move on from you. Danny: They’re two totally separate things. As long as I keep them separated and don’t cross gigs over or anything, I’ve got time to do both. Ginger and Ritch can only do it for a certain amount of time in the year, so it’s not a full-time thing, but it’ll come across as a full-time thing. Years ago we were taking on the world – now we’re just taking it in our stride. Her whole body and soul lost their boundaries, they merged and fused into a single chaos, gentle and amorphous, relaxed and with uncertain movements, like matter that was simply alive. It was perfect renewal, creation. I had an informative chat with the affable Scott Lee Andrews, on everything from: Mutation, Scott’s love of The Wildhearts and Endless … Read More »

No reproach, no demands, no rules, no dogma. Just a goddess giving birth to a first child feeling vulnerable and inexperienced, and destined to make mistakes and lose control when the child grows up and claims an independent life. I like that notion of a deity - the first one I have come across which doesn’t fill me with anger, guilt and nauseating frustration at the injustice of it all. Unfortunately, the beauty of the idea doesn’t make it any more true than other, less pretty cosmic conceptions! And Joana knows that, instinctively, rejecting the idea of one truth, one path to a happiness that symbolises a stasis she can’t embrace. Lawrence "Viper" Finkle is one of my absolute favorite leading men. There's nothing I love more than a brooding, reluctant hero. The road for Michelle and Viper was an unconventional, unexpected one rife with heartbreaking emotions and unpredictable romance all the way through Cement Heart. Viper is moody and stubborn and sarcastic. He has soft spots, but he really never sees himself the way everyone else does... the way I do. He's beautiful and protective, fiercely loyal, generous and capable of so much love. He just doesn't believe it. Me: Only too well. In fear of us both going deep into the subject and losing the momentum I decided to keep things music related – besides, I had a few questions for later in the interview regarding mental health. Viper and Michelle's relationship is tested. Viper is lost. Michelle is concerned about their future. She loves Viper and she knows he loves her but doesn't know if it's enough. He is going through one of the toughest times in his life and feels that the hits keep coming. Because of this, he becomes moody, distant, and pretty much an all around asshole. He needs to step up but doesn't know how. Can he figure out what he needs to do to save his family before it's too late? Once in a while she would express these things in ways I could connect with. Mostly she sounded mentally ill. Perhaps we are all mentally ill during puberty.

li definisce Alfredo Giuliani nella quarta e nel suo articolo su Repubblica intitolato Debutto selvaggio (del 27 settembre 1987).

Wildheart: the daring adventures of John Muir - Goodreads

The only thing she hadn't got used to was sleeping. Sleeping was an adventure every night, falling from the easy clarity in which she lived into the same mystery, dark and cool, crossing darkness. Dying and being reborn. Wild Heart Booksoffers historical romance novels set prior to 1950 and woven with the truth of God's love. Why did this young, wild, passionate tale touch me so much? Why is it so hard to put into words the admiration I felt for the young woman Joana, who with seeming ease understands herself and her incompatibility with other people? And who is willing to accept it too? Her vision of the world is tolerant and open-minded, and she doesn’t expect any hypothetical (yet quite unnecessary) gods to know more than she does herself: Viper is such a wonderful hero. Arrogant, funny charming and sexy as all hell, but he’s an absolute sweetheart who loves deeply. After all that he went through in Cement Heart, my heart broke for him watching him go through even more heartache, but his journey is beautifully writtenI loved Michelle so much,I envy her strength She wanted even more: to be reborn always, to sever everything that she had learned, that she had seen, and inaugurate herself in new terrain where every tiny act had a meaning, where the air was breathed as if for the first time.” Even without the epigraph from James Joyce— He was alone. He was unheeded, happy, and near to the wild heart of life —I would’ve recognized the influence of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man on the novel. Its beginning is a delight as the young protagonist plays with and thinks about words: “She went over to the little table where the books were, played with them by looking at them from a distance.”
