About this deal

So do be mindful that this tour only runs twice a day at 12pm and 1pm. And that you have to go down with a tour guide, it’s not possible to go on your own. They're often not associated with a specific species except in very rare circumstances, but they can be quite common as things like footprints are created thousands of times during a single animal's lifetime.' However, while shapes like these may look like footprints, there are some natural processes that can produce footprint-like impressions. But how are the dinosaur footprints on a vertical wall? Well shifting tectonic plates are the answer.

Ankylosaurs generally had longer toes than ceratopsians. Additionally, ceratopsians may have walked on the tips of their fingers so wouldn't leave a palm print, whereas ankylosaurs walked with their palms flat on the floor. And so what was once flat clay ground is now a vertical limestone cliff, almost 3000m above sea-level.

Why do some footprints fossilise?

In 2021, a team of Chinese researchers announced the discovery of a “dinosaur dance floor”, a huge concentration of dinosaur footprints, in Shanghang County in the east Fujian Province. First up there’s a shuttle bus service called the sauromovil (aka dino bus), running from the main square of Plaza 25 de Mayo. It’s normally right in front of the cathedral, you can’t miss it. More than 11,000 footprints have been found from at least ten types of dinosaurs from the Late Cretaceous period in an exposed area of over 5,000 square metres. The area is known as the “dinosaur dance world.” Millions of years ago a huge shift created the expansive Andes mountain that runs through the South American continent and pushed the ocean outwards by thousands of kilometers.

One plan with the UNESCO funding was to install a clear fibreglass layer over the dinosaur footprints.

Now a popular Sucre tourist attraction with replica lifesize dinosaurs and museums, Sucre Dinosaur Park once looked very different. You can only go with a guide though and you’ll need to wear a safety helmet as a precaution for the occasional falling rubble. Both the human footprint and the dinosaur print occurred in a relatively short time, possibly within hours of one another, because the ground was still soft enough to produce these prints. If it were millions of year between the two, the human foot print would not have been affected when the dinosaur stepped on top of it. Millions of years would cause massive erosion. but because they were covered shortly after being imprinted, it retained their contours. Human remains are found at Lake Mead's Swim Beach for the third time amid dramatically dropping water levels
