On headphones: this sounds subdued compared to my US first pressing, particularly the drums, like they were trying to cut down any sibilance. I recently got nailed by a targeted ad on IG for the just-announced 30th Anniversary edition of Nevermind.

The gatefold is good, but it's very tight which makes really painful to take out the inner sleeve and put it back in.

Produced by Butch Vig, it was Nirvana's first release on the DGC label, as well as the first to feature drummer Dave Grohl. The bass is not as intense and the soundstage is a tiny bit more narrow, but there is a bit more sibilance in the Grundman.I was surprised however about how good this actually sounds so I am curious if it is still worth it to get that other pressing. The two-CD deluxe features the remastered album and highlights from the four concerts which are in the super deluxe editions. Took the record out of the sleeve , started up the player and the moment this started playing it almost brought tears to my eyes , it was like Kurt was in my living room with me , this is the best my ears have ever heard this album, I would not hesitate to pick this up. And especially in Nirvana’s case, when they essentially set the gold standard for an AAA remaster release with the ‘13 In Utero 20th’ release.

However, this LP reissue sounds amazing, punchy bass with great dynamic and noticable details on highs. If all you did was take the original CD and cut it with very little EQ and no compression, it would have sounded close to Bernie's 320/LP. Includes original dust sleeve art on an insert (B0012766-01NS01), and another insert with ads for other Nirvana releases and Nirvana ringtones (B0012766-01NS02).One of the reasons I enjoy this album is because my father used to play it on repeat a lot (and I mean a lot) and that kind of makes it a nostalgic album for me at least, this doesn't even count the great songs 'Come as you are' and 'Smells like teen spirit' which really encapsulate the later end of 80s and early 90s rock. Maybe Red Hot Chili Peppers would have gained the same iconic status as Nirvana if Flea had killed himself after the release of Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
