About this deal

We get grumpy/sunshine, a trope I love, but with a dark twist and I was here for it. Creighton King is just that... a king! I loved how possessive and protective of Anni he was but also how sweet and soft he got around her, especially how much comfort she brought to him. It was so cute to read about. In 2 Timothy 1:9 the apostle Paul said, “[God] saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.” And so on his behalf, I invite you — I urge you — to trust him in all his sovereign goodness, as your Savior and your Lord and the supreme Treasure of your life. And therefore Christian emotions are not simple. We will “rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15). And there is always someone we know who is weeping, and someone we know who is rejoicing. And therefore we will learn the secret of “sorrowful yet always rejoicing” — and joyful yet always sorrowing. Global Suffering Now, the most stunning word in the text is the first word of verse 6. Verse 5 just highlighted for us the love Jesus has for these people. And then verse 6 begins with so or therefore — as a result and consequence of that great love.

To be fair I don't think this is the worst RK's book. Not by any means. The story is your typical Rina Kent's book in its full unabashed cheesy glory. And when evil things happen to us, the Bible teaches us to speak like this: “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” (Genesis 50:20) i do not want jeremy and ceciley, i hate this bitch. she’s 100% going to be the “im not like other girls” character. Make me think that the hero is demented. I don't care how many times you tell me he's scary when the only remotely bad thing he manages to commit is trying to set some house on fire and FAILING. 🤣🤣🤣 Demented also-ran felon. The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.” (Proverbs 21:1)

Did you know?

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) The ghost of Laios demands the expulsion of Oidipous from Thebes before he will recall the pestilent daimones including Dolor (Algos) [15] that plaguing the land:

Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” Publius Papinius Statius, The Thebaid. Vol I-II. John Henry Mozley. London: William Heinemann; New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons. 1928. Latin text available at the Perseus Digital Library. There were definitely a few similarities with Creighton and Annika’s romance to their parents, which I actually really loved. The romance and development between Creighton and Annika was fantastic. Their tension, chemistry and spice was perfectly written and explored. I just loved how different but compatible they were; they definitely brought out the best in each other. Creighton’s possessiveness and jealousy was also my favorite. Here’s the second thing to think about. I think that John, in writing chapter 11, is intentionally inviting us to see our own resurrection in relationship to Lazarus’s — our death and our resurrection as parallel to Lazarus’s. Why do I think that? You might want to drop your eyes down to verses 23–26. I made a terrible mistake. Being a mafia princess, I knew my fate was already decided. But I went ahead and longed for the wrong one. Creighton King is bad news with a gorgeous exterior. He’s silent, brooding, and obviously emotionally unavailable. So I thought it was over. Until he awakens a beast inside me. My name is Annika Volkov, and I’m Creighton’s worst enemy. He won’t stop until he breaks me. Or I break him. God of Pain is a complete STANDALONE and can be read on its own. God of Pain: Special Edition Print (Legacy of Gods Series Special Edition) by Rina Kent – eBook Details It really feels like authors just press copy and paste when it comes to describing their anti-heroes: Spiritual coping is discussed in many studies, so far. Finally, both positive and negative spirituality and religious practices were strongly related to well-being for the clergy. In some of studies, reported cultural differences are affect the results that related to both negative and positive spiritual and religious coping. In these studies shown that, in different cultural settings are also affected spiritual and religious coping during times of stres and illness. 46

The Bible is overwhelmingly clear that God governs everything in the universe from the smallest bird to the largest storm. I didn’t notice the post-colon title until writing this review; it is not just a “Legacy of Gods” book, but God of Pain is also a “grumpy sunshine college romance.” It makes it sound a bit sweeter than it actually is, and lord knows that Cray Cray was portrayed as a nearly mute grunter in the last book, so I was pleased to see he had a bit more going on than just Oscar living in the trash can in his head…. In ancient Rome, if you or a loved one developed a fever - or worse yet, malaria - you called upon the goddess Febris for assistance. She was invoked to cure such diseases, even though she was associated with bringing them about in the first place. Cicero refers in his writings to her sacred temple on the Palatine Hilland called for the cult of Febris to be abolished. I am God, and there is none like me . . . saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’” (Isaiah 46:9–10) I will say though, there were a few subplots that weren’t as explored as I would have liked and somewhat rushed at the end, like Annika’s OCD.We must see this, and feel this, or we will not turn to Christ for salvation from the ugliness of sin. We may want to escape the penalty of sin. But will we see and hate the ugliness of sin, if we do not see the ugliness of its image in physical pain?

Muslims often believe illness and injury are caused by a higher power (Allah), they attribute their illness, injury, pain and sufferings to Allah thanking for good furtune of being allowed the special medical or/and surgical treatments. 47 In Turkey, for instance, 90% of the population are Muslims. Also, there are some Jews, Christian, and others. Turkey is a unique country both as the majority of its’s citizens are Muslim and also for their commitment to adapt a Western life style. In Turkish sources, little empirical research has explored the specific ways in which religious and spiritual coping may directly impact chronic pain. However, numerous studies demonstrated that there is a negative relationship between spiritually and symptoms related chronic disease ( e.g. pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, hopelessness). There is a positive relationship between spirituality and well-being, life satisfaction and the quality of life. Studies conducted in Turkey are given below. These studies are related to spirituality, pain and chronic illness. Many religious and spiritual practices are intended to help the practitioner to experience feelings of spiritual support. A study by Wiech et al. used Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to study the key areas in the brain for modulating pain intensity. Twelve practicing Catholics and twelve non-religious, non-spiritual individuals participated. They were shown two pictures of women in a similar pose, the Virgin Mary and an unknown woman, while they received a repetitive noxious electrical stimulation. Both groups were equally sensitive to the pain but the religious group reported less pain when looking at the picture of the Virgin Mary while the non-religious group reported the same amount of pain. The non-religious group preferred the picture of the other woman although the picture did not lessen their pain. The Catholic participants reported that they were in a calm, meditative state when the religious image was presented to them. These researchers found that the right ventrolateral prefrontal cortex (VLPFC) cluster in the brain was specifically activated in the religious sample when looking at the Virgin Mary, but not in the nonreligious sample. The VLPFC is also involved in other cognitive processes which is long-term memory and working memory maintenance. Post scan reports suggested that the Catholic sample used a strategy known as self-focused reappraisal that allowed them to down regulate the perceived intensity of the pain when presented with a religious image. The image of the Virgin Maryis felt to Catholics projects a calming presence of understanding and support that allows these individuals to feel supported by their higher power. Meaning making symbols can thus influence the experience of pain. 42 Caldwell, p. 42 lines 226-232, with the meanings of the names (in parentheses), as given by Caldwell, p. 40 on lines 212–232. I AM SERIOUSLY LOVING this second gen series- it’s truly the best compilation of that various tropes and strengths in the various connected series Rina has done, like the most decadent buffet of all my favorite Rina things.
