About this deal

For the armour, use Apothecary White contrast, then highlight the plates, raised nodes and the edge of the shoulders with Lothern Grey. Optionally add some White Scar to anything you really want to pop. Thin down some Mournfang Brown aggressively, then put it on the cloaks everywhere but the recesses. It should be so thin that it goes on sort of transparent – you’re really just using this to smooth out the Contrast effect so it looks nice Thin down Citadel Druchii Violet with Citadel Lahmian Medium 1:4 (1 part shade to 4 parts medium), and add a drop or two of water too. Cover the Wraithbone primer (which should just be the skin at this point) and the recesses of the silver areas. I saved some of this mixture in an empty pot for other projects, much like my Nurgle flesh wash.

Prime everything in Citadel Wraithbone (I used the rattle can, but (air)brushing it on would probably be fine too). Step 1: Base coatsThe model receives a wash of Army Painter Soft Tone followed by a drybrush of Vallejo Game Air Bonewhite and a second drybrush of Vallejo Model Color Gloss White. This is the same method I use for the bone color in my Primaris Marines and will serve as the foundation for the colors on top. Using the thinned air paint creates an interesting glaze effect which both highlights the edges and tints the entire model. Highlight almost all the gold with Scale 75 Dwarven Gold, leaving the Necro Gold in just the recesses. Step 3: Stipple Citadel Ushabti Bone over Zandri Dust bands. I did slightly less of these than in the previous Zandri Dust layer.

Base the mini with Vallejo grey sand, wash it with reikland and agrax then drybrush with screaming skull The bottom edges of the muscles were thinly lined with Stonewall Grey for a bounce reflection/ environmental light. For the ridged sections between any carapace plates, basecoat with Xereus Purple and shade with Druchii Violet Wash the majority of the model’s skin with a 1:3 Contrast Aethermatic Blue/Contrast Medium mix, leaving the extremities of the various limbs (arms, legs and tail) untouched. You can vary how far down you go towards the ends to vary up a little.Basecoat with thin layers of this colour, taking care not to build up so much paint that the details are obscured. Slow and steady wins the race! The banner I went for a flayed skin attempt with Contrast Guilliman Flesh and Contrast Blood Angel Red on each side. The plan being it should be easy to apply transfers at a later date. The banner pole is Contrast Wyldwood
