It started after a year of use and I tried to prevent it spreading by coating with WD40 - unfortunately to no avail. To be fair, the rod has stayed firmly in place and I love the added space from the design, but the aesthetic is totally ruined as it is being eaten by rust. Very disappointed in what was almost a perfect product. Note: the one I bought for my sister is rusting as well.
