Both the drone charging port and the two-way charging hub have LED indicators that flash and tell the batteries’ state of charge. The lights should gradually illuminate to represent your charging progress, but that may not be the case in some instances.

If you can run to it, we’d suggest that the Mini 2 is the better choice, featuring as it does a good bit more flexibility when it comes to stills and video, not to mention a bit more straight-line speed. If you’re in a few countries, like the UK, DJI has even spared you the effort of making that decision by failing to release the Mini SE where you can buy it. There's also been no suggestion that the batteries of other DJI drones, like the new DJI Air 2S, have any auto-discharge issues. The mid-range Air 2S uses a completely different battery to DJI's smaller drones, so this is solely an issue for the Mini 2. Also, never insert your battery inside the drone when the battery is turned on. The battery is too cold If only the third LED light blinks two times a second, the Intelligent Flight Battery is overcharged, likely due to a high battery voltage.However, it is not a good idea to fly your drone in extremely low temperatures. Even if your drone takes off, it can crash midway due to low discharge from the battery. The battery is damaged In technical language, it’s called “power cycling” your electronic device. We don’t simply turn it off and on again but make sure to drain all capacitors of their charge.

Li-Po cells are a bit expensive but they are lightweight and hence have higher energy density. That means, for each gram of battery weight, they can store more energy than the Li-ion battery used in the Mavic Mini 1. You can always leave the battery and try to charge it again later, but if you get the same error the next time, that’s a clear sign something is wrong. You’ll always know precisely how much battery the Mini 2 SE has with the included DJI Intelligent Battery Management System. If only the second LED light blinks three times a second, an internal communication error has occurred. Alternatively, this light pattern can represent a short circuit.

That said, 4K does feel like it should at least be an option these days, and perhaps the fact it requires a considerably higher bit-rate to record all that extra detail is a good thing whatever quality you’re editing to. In essence, I had no complaints about the resolution of the 2.7K video from the Mavic Mini, and I have to admit that the 40 Mbps still seemed to offer surprisingly good quality without being overly greedy when it came to MicroSD cards. It’s clearly better to have the choice of 4K than not, and the quality is good, though noise is an inevitable consequence in the shadier areas, and the dynamic range could be better

To do this, just take your battery off the drone and leave it on your table overnight. The capacitors will drain and the drone will be empty of any residue charge. If you see a low charge on your battery (only the first LED is blinking) that means you need to charge your battery first before you can fly your drone. Battery in hibernation

Here’s how it’s done. Put the Intelligent Flight Battery into the Mini 2 SE, turn on the drone, and allow the battery some time to discharge. As ever with DJI drones, there is a strong argument in favor of the ‘Fly More’ kit, offering extra batteries and a case. Realistically though this is pretty tough for a drone, you won’t want it bouncing lose in a bag so if you’re not opting for DJI’s form-fitted cases then make sure you find something to protect it. This one’s primarily used by pilots who buy the standard bundle (that doesn’t come with a charging hub or extra batteries). If you have been using your Mini 2 battery following the best practices, it should last for a good 2 – 3 years, depending on how often you fly and how deep you usually discharge the batteries during flight sessions. DJI managed to one-up themselves by making use of LiPo technology for the Mini 2 Intelligent Flight battery. LiPo batteries, as compared to Li-ion batteries, have a higher energy density and are noticeably lighter.
