About this deal

Knit fabrics aren’t exactly hardy, so DMT has infused the lower two thirds of the upper with a polymer that toughens up the fabric and provides a bit of splash proofing too. It also adds to the structure of the upper giving support and solidity laterally while allowing the tongue area and the ankle cuff total freedom.

While the EXOS is an impressive advance in both design and technology, without a longer field test (which will come) we were left unsure about their overall durability. In a controlled racing environment where both every ounce of weight and degree of stiffness is a gift for forward momentum, the EXOS can’t be beat. This is a shoe that alters the debate about how much we can do without while still offering top-level performance. My only real concern was whether the lower profile of the ankle section of the shoe would allow my heel to slip out. Turns out it does as intended and has held my heel in place as promised. I felt that my feet move around a little more than I'd ideally want. I'm usually a size 42, which is what I tested here, and I would say the fit is spot on in terms of a close fit. But the movement the knit allows means your foot moves around, especially under effort, which I didn't like so much. Once on, the KR1 feels snug thanks to the 3D Knit anatomical liner, but not to the extent the shoe feels undersized. Are the DMT KR1s worth the money? They're very well vented, stiff, look brilliant, and durability seems to be good – I've had no pulled threads in the upper or splits where it is attached to the carbon sole. But for a race shoe, I feel the foot should be more stable in the shoe; the movement I found here was most noticeable during hard efforts – sort this and these shoes would be very good. For me, the single Boa is just not as good as a double Boa system. I'd also prefer a stronger tongue for better pressure distribution as the Boa laces dig in slightly when you tighten the dial for big efforts.Faulty items should be returned within a reasonable time and in a clean and dry condition. PLEASE NOTE, WE WILL NOT PROCESS DIRTY ITEMS.

Of course, the DMTs were heavier, but certainly not so much to be a burden. Where the DMTs felt more like a traditional shoe right from the first pedal stroke, the slipper-like feel of the EXOS continued to leave DMT: Owing to the way the upper material envelops the foot, the first thing you notice about the DMT is how difficult it can be to slip your foot inside. Although there is a small pull-tab on the tongue, it could really use one on the heel. The same can be said about taking the shoe off.As mentioned, the KR1 comprises a newly developed carbon sole technology called Quarry, which features a unique anatomic curvature to the sole that’s aimed at creating optimal support and power transfer. Q36.5, i dont have the DMT's anymore. I did try several sizes of the DMT's before the actual riding with the best possible size. cant remember for sure but that was probably a 45 too. So whenever you shop with us at Velozonee, we promise that not only will you receive top level customer service but the best prices too. Mapping technology has been used to design the different integrated structures within the knit, insuring perfect support for the foot across all areas. The upper wraps around the foot without compressing it in any way Whether it’s a jersey that doesn’t fit, or the colour is not quite right, sometimes you’ll need to return items to us.

Engineered 3D Knit features a multi-layer, once piece construction which flexes and conforms to the individual shape of each riders foot, offering a truly comfortable and customised fit. Cleat placement is easy thanks to marked guidelines on four side of the cleat, and a slot for Look’s Memory Cleat guide (although the shoes will take many different types of cleat/ pedal combos.) DMT has always been at the forefront of high end cycling shoes, and I’ve personally had the good fortune of riding and reviewing most of the Italian brand’s top-of-the-line models over the last few years, including the far-out RS1 that was designed in partnership with sprinter extraordinaire Elia Viviani. Adjusting the fit is a cinch given DMT’s lacing design and its one BOA dial retention system that nicely envelopes the top of the foot and cradles the heel.

The KR1 is the shoe that started the Engineered Knit revolution. DMT were the first brand to develop this technology, which has since been widely adopted by other brands. However, DMT's proprietary knit technology still outclasses its competitors in every aspect including weight, fit and comfort. Knit though it may be, the DMT is a totally different shoe from the Giro. Co-developed with world-class sprinter Elia Viviani, the KR1 is more performance-oriented, and it uses a 3D Knit material with integrated webbing for added support in the upper. The perimeter finish has a more plasticized feel than you’d expect when you hear the word “knit”. After riding in wet conditions stuff the shoes with dry paper or cloth to soak up any excess moisture and allow to dry in a warm (not hot) place, which is well-ventilated and out of direct sunlight
