About this deal

Every single record I have in the set is scuffed like hell from the paper sleeve they came in, and these sets were definitely played to death, and yet my copies have low noise floor, and some even dead-silent. A deluxe "expanded" version of the album is due to be released on 10 November 2023, featuring the previously unreleased song " Now and Then", the final "new" original single by the group. I agree with that, I do as well, but that does not mean the early period is any less than a five rating. The blue album has a thinner and less dynamic sound than the red album due to there being 7 songs squeezed into each side of vinyl.

The Beatles - The Blue Album 1967-1970 (2023 Edition

This landmark compilation has introduced generations of fans to the incredible history of the most storied band in music. And I asked Capitol/EMI, or EMI/Capitol whichever, please ask George Martin would he take care of this, so at least he knows what to do. Along with its companion ‘Red Album’, it’s been a gateway for generations of new Fab Four fans for decades. All in all, they're a band designed for compilation consumption for me and 1967-1970 does a pretty good job of summing up the good parts of their career, even if it's missing the few earlier tunes I quite like and contains a handful of tracks that wouldn't be missed if they were to be removed. Maybe the 1980 box will sound better, but it doesn’t have these great covers so I guess nobody wins. If you've learned something new about the band and wish to show your appreciation, why not make a small donation via PayPal? They've had a bunch of great songs, but the first half of their career was full of forgettable fluff, the arguably better second half of their career never produced an album that wasn't free of some sort of dismissable material, and in the end this was all done in the sixties which means even the best-written songs sound absolutely terrible with their cardboard snares and paper-thin production which does steal a fair bit of power from the songs. Remastered versions of The Beatles 1962-1966 and 1967-1970 were both released worldwide on 18 October 2010 (the following day in North America).

The Beatles: 1967 - 1970 (The Blue Album) [2023 Edition

The blue box is not so good because it is made of very sensitive material, but the most important is that the sound and pressings are very good. Print advertising for the two records made a point of declaring them "the only authorized collection of the Beatles". Unlike the 1962-1966 collection, the Blue Album was largely the same in the US and UK, although there were some variations. The success of the two official double LP compilations inspired Capitol's repackaging of the Beach Boys' 1960s hits, starting with the 1974 album Endless Summer.Correct me if I’m wrong, but sets with X/81 dates on the inner sleeves are from 1982, not 1984, and should have their own entry. An outtake from the Please Please Me shoot was used on the rear of the Blue Album, and on the front of the Red Album.
