But Heughan being Heughan, he decides to walk all ninety-six miles of the West Highland Trail, which is a popular walking/hiking trail through some of the most beautiful (and treacherous) landscapes in the Highlands region of Scotland. It’s also so eye opening how difficult filming specific scenes can be, especially in Outlander and how quickly he became a “star” overnight – how people don’t see him as Sam but Jamie – how you must take time for yourself when you can, but he also makes sure to provide a nice experience for fans too.

There is a photo with Heughan sitting next to a magical red mushroom, like what you’d see Super Mario Bros leaping over, and I fully understand why Heughan took a selfie with this little red shroom. But it’s his vulnerability around his father, something that is obviously painful for him that gives the book an emotional resonance that sets it apart from other books of this genre.But after texting a few friends, some of whom may have given him tougher “support” than he wanted, he decided to lower his expectations and try and enjoy the trip a little more. Throughout this journey, Sam does a great job at really sharing how he works through his own waypoints in his life. One of the best parts of the book is the self-deprecating humor with which Heughan tells stories from his past.
