I have a dongle that converts an old Bose I pod dock to bluetooth which is 30 pin female in and only needs power which I presume the USB side of the Y cable will provide. After waiting for my phone to say it's connected, I use the behind the steering wheel button to change audio input to ipod, and it's usually there.I tried the Bovee1000 in my 2014 458 with factory iPod (30 pin connector) and it worked with my iPhone X with no problem at all. I think the sound quality is nearly as good as the direct connected iPod- it might be as good- hard to go back and forth quickly.
