About this deal

When Dave sits on King Saul's throne during the line "With His help, I know I can do big things!" in Big Things Too, it foreshadows David becoming king after King Saul's death. Goliath makes a brief appearance in Josh and the Big Wall!, having a cookout with his family in the Promised Land, but unfortunately scaring away the Israelites who arrived there. The line "Couldn't you just play your harp and I'll throw things at you?" from Big Things Too is a reference to the Bible, where King Saul tries to kill David by throwing a spear at him.

King Saul: I'm sorry, my ears must be failing. I could have sworn I heard you say that you'd fight Goliath, but you didn't really say that, did you? Jesse: It's very nice that you wanna help, but saving a country is a big thing. You're a little guy. Big people do big things, and little people do little things. So, stay with the sheep. This is one of the few episodes whose original unremastered visuals in almost their entirety are available on DVD, including Heroes of the Bible!: Lions, Shepherds and Queens (Oh My!) and the classroom edition of Larry-Boy! and the Fib from Outer Space!. This includes most of the episode (plus both the 1996 and 1998 versions of Love My Lips), minus the first half of the credits. The first episode not to have Mike Asparagus, Laura Carrot, Grandpa George, Mr. Nezzer and Mr. Lunt since their debut appearances.Larry-Boy: Well, there's nothing special about plain-old Larry. He can't do anything neat like fly or save people or anything. He's just plain-old boring. On a similar note, the Arabic dub replaces Love My Lips with The Hairbrush Song, due to Are You My Neighbor? being denied from release in the Arab World for controversial reasons involving its lesson in loving your neighbor. Many sound effects were missing in the original version, especially the sound of Goliath's giant footsteps in many scenes. This was fixed in the 2004 rerelease. Jean-Claude: (to Christophe) This is going to be easier than we thought. (to the Israelites) You know, I think we can save us a lot of time. How about we bring our strongest man, and you bring your strongest man, and they will fight. If our champion beats your champion, you will be our slaves. But if your champion defeats us, we will be your slaves. What do you think about that? Larry the Cucumber: 🎵 That'd be too bad, I'd be so sad, I might get mad, I'd call my dad. That be too bad. 🎵

In the original 1996 version, there are some sound effects missing (i.e. some of Goliath's stomping noises). This was corrected by adding them in when the episode was remastered in 2004 for its VeggieTales Classics re-release. Bob: Now in our story, no one thought David could do anything important. After all, he was just a little guy! Why, even King Saul tried to change David by putting his own armor on him. It kind of reminds me of another guy who thought he had to put on a costume to be special.
