About this deal

The LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, today announced the much-anticipated LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set" Agree with everyone else who feels that there ought to have been more than one type of elf hair piece. There were several made for the previous LotR sets and some of those would have been perfectly suited for re-use here. On balance, I actually prefer the more streamlined look of the previous version of the “standard” elf hair piece with ears; this new one feels just a little too bulky to me. Sam is depicted with a dark tan torso, printed with a coat over a tan shirt, while he has suspenders holing up his dark brown trousers. He wears a sand-blue cloak. His hairpiece is dark orange. He has a happy smile, a raised right eyebrow and a more concerned frown. The rear printing on his coat adds detail, with creases and the rear tie. The figure is presented with a frying pan to carry. This highly requested building set has been designed for The Lord of the Rings™ fans and film-lovers who appreciate stunning design.

Sauron as a minifigure probably. They say it will release towards the end of this year or the beginning In regards to the weapons, you have Boromir's sword, Gimli's axe, the ranger sword, sting, and the elven blades. No Glamdring, but I suppose that could be easily represented by the current long sword element. Are they missing any other key weapons besides a reforged Anduril? I can't think of any. The only other thing might be Uruk-hai shields since the swords are still in production. I suppose since they put 16 of the weapons in one bag, it won't show up in smaller sets. Hopefully they do a similar but smaller assortment for smaller sets." Gimli has never had the classic lego axe, the one he had in the original run (53454 Weapon axe head clip) was introduced for him in 2012 "

Additional scrollwork elements are combined with life rings to assemble the ornate dome, which is extraordinarily detailed. The tooth pieces clipped underneath are effective too, recreating the Elven pavilions from the films with far greater accuracy than I had anticipated. Another récamier delivers a splash of colour inside. All the new parts are wonderful. Most of the figs are perfection, especially the Hobbits with the dual molded legs (and the sitting leg doubles are brilliant). Disappointing Gandalf doesn't have a hat/hair combo. Boromir's colors look off to me, too much blue. The reuse of the faces are serviceable, except for Gandalf and especially Arwen. Glad I have all the originals to mash up and make the perfect LEGO representations of Middle Earth. Gloin was one of the dwarfs that joined Bilbo on the journey to Erabor, many years ago. He has come to Rivendell with his son Gimli. His beard piece now allows for a long straight hairpiece in white. His face is wrinkled, and I presume that because the beard obscures most of his facial details, there is no alternative face print. His torso, however, is not a new print, having also been used for Tony Stark and Owen Grady I like the Hobbit legs being dual molded and that they have updated the prints to distinguish them from the old minifigures. I'm not a fan of the heads for Merry and Pippin, they look a bit goofy with such big teeth. I assume that fight is from the comics? I have no recollection of that. I hope we get Gungi, but we probably won't know until next year's wave. I just hope they have a lower priced Bad Batch set I actually like."

The only negative I can say so far, is that it is going to be a tedious pain to setup all those 1x1 tiles on the roofs" The ground floor is luxuriously adorned with 69 printed tiles, matching those from the courtyard outside. This pattern looks fantastic and precisely reflects the onscreen location, with light bluish grey tiles framing the decorative centrepiece. Unfortunately, the star-shaped design overlaps the edge of the model, so finishes rather abruptly. Furthermore, the bedroom also includes Bilbo's writing desk, where he completes the Red Book of Westmarch, recounting his adventures. The quill in the inkwell looks great, while the desk is adorned with scrolls underneath. The teal-upholstered chair is neatly constructed and provides some additional colour, but the reddish brown frame looks odd, surrounded by dark orange and medium nougat furnishings.I can see that Gimli’s beard is shorter between the braids, but I don’t see from these photos why the helmet had to change to fit over the new beard, since the previous version had to do the same thing with the old beard.
