With all of that has come some absolutely incredible opportunities that I am so excited to see come to pass in the coming months! There was potential and to be honest, I was quite into it when the story began, showing how the two main characters met. It would be one thing if it was just an entertaining read about a toxic relationship in a mafia/dark setting, but something about it just wasn't sitting right with me. Their background, style, and influences often shine through in their writing, making each book a unique experience.Calix designs the house for her in shades of the colors she can see, everything is white, black and various shades of grey. I loved Calix’s unrepentant obsession with Thalia and the way he was both a caretaker and demanding.

We start off with a boy who goes up against a grown mafia boss to stop her abuse, and we end up with that boy growing up to abuse her himself? The sex scenes were somewhat nice but because of the lack of chemistry I just wasn't much into them. The West Side Wolves claim to be a brotherhood, but what do they do when a sister walks in demanding their attention?

And I can tell for sure that if she'd done that here, I would actually be looking forward to the next book. I wasn’t quite expecting our story to big up just where it did, and truthfully I don't always love a story that spends a lot of time with our characters as kids, but this one really hit the mark, in part because of just how heavily the actions of the past shaped both of these characters. I think in a way, everything about him was done right but his deviousness felt a bit forced in the writing. In many ways, Thalia is your typical mafia daughter raised in an abusive home with a dictator of a father but Thalia’s experience is unique because of the traits she is forced to keep hidden. Calix’s eyes tracked over me as I spread my legs to shoulder-width, raising the cane over my right shoulder like a baseball bat.
