The games ability to be flexible in the amount of players and how difficult or challenging you want it to be is great as it will grow with you as you get more used to the game and will be appealing to most gamers. The rules are very simple and straightforward making it easy for me to explain to new players and fun for everyone while you play without getting bogged in complicated rules. This small yet mighty dungeon crawler uses a simple tile-laying system, allowing players (or player) to create a unique dungeon every time they play. Certain player characters are stronger against certain monster types for example, so you can talk among yourselves and decide who gets pushed into the monster and has the door slammed behind them. And because every game is different, it will keep you fighting, looting and dying over and again for many happy hours.Basic game is highly replayable as different every time; additional Dragon Scroll adventures add further complexity and variety. Combat is handled with dice-rolling, as you might expect, combined with weapons and items you pick up along the way. In a different universe, this would be a box weighed down with a couple of kilos of plastic minis, so we have that to be thankful for. Much like classic roguelikes, part of the fun is just seeing how the dungeon will sprawl out this time. I also play the game, as intended, and it gives you the bare bones essentials of a dungeon delving game.

This is the perfect old-school ‘dungeon (forest) crawler’, designed to be simple to set up and learn and quick and easy to play. Everything from the charming artwork to the random nature of the tiles, monsters and items along with a large assortment of dragon scroll quest cards makes each play through unique. The art is minimal, so much so that it may as well have the abstraction of ascii characters moving one turn at a time around a black terminal box. I was always looking for a way to introduce my family and gaming friends to tabletop dungeon-crawling, but most RPG sytems and board games have a very high learning curve, and require a lot of investment (time and/or money).I love the box (much better I think than I would have just the bag as the box fits nicely on my game shelf).
