About this deal

During the early Miocene (about 20 million years ago), echolocation developed in its modern form. Various extinct dolphin-like families flourished belonging to Kentriodontidae, which were small to medium-sized toothed cetaceans and thought likely to include ancestors of some modern species. Kentriodontids date to the late Oligocene to late Miocene. Kentriodontines ate small fish and other organisms; they are thought to have been active echolocators, and might have formed schools. Enormous amounts of waste products enter the sea. Some of these create a simple physical hazard and huge numbers of marine mammals become entangled in marine debris. Others ingest items like plastic bags in mistake for food. Can humans talk to dolphins? Would you like to learn more about the lives of dolphins in a fun and entertaining way? Get the novel Dolphin Way – although it’s fiction, it is full of factual information about the way dolphins live and interact.

Dolphins have a few predators in the natural world, essentially some larger sharks and orcas — and they take relatively few dolphins. Over the last couple of centuries Man has created a much wider range of threats which have dramatically altered the risks that dolphins face. What is the most important concept or idea that you hope people take away from reading THE DOLPHIN WAY? I did not say these words proudly. I said them with a pang of guilt for the hectic life I had created for my family. A life with “activities” that I had nothing to do with as a child myself. As the fifth child of immigrant parents, I was never in a single structured activity – ever. The postcode RM19 1NR does not show a significant deviation from the average figures for the UK. There is no evidence that authoritarian parenting and an imbalanced lifestyle (from overscheduling) has any benefit. People confuse Tigers with having high expectations – but this is confined to short-term performance only. Life is not a series of competitions confined to a structured Tiger arena like a math test or piano competition. The zetii is the name the dolphins call themselves in the novel, the singular form is zeta. The term includes all dolphins and porpoises. The zetii are very aware of their close relationship with other cetaceans, but view the whales as separate from the zetii, naming them the Great Wanderers or Great Ones. One notable anomaly between the human view of dolphins and the zetii view is that they do not consider the Orcas (Orcinus orca) to be zetii. The Ka-Tse (and many other zeta species) name for an Orca is a Krakar.

Mark Caney narrated his own audiobook version and he does a really good job with it. He had distinct voices for all the characters and his female voices were feminine. Caney also captured the various emotions of the characters as well. The pacing was good and there were no tech issues with the recording. 5/5 stars. The Dolphin Way is an intuitive approach to parenting that uses role modelling, guiding, and a healthy lifestyle to help children develop internal control and self-motivation. The Dolphin Way has two distinct parts: 1) A balanced authoritative parent-child relationship and 2) a balanced lifestyle, including what many of today’s kids are missing–Play and exploration, a sense of community and contribution, and Downtime. These are things Dolphins do every day that keep them healthy, happy, and motivated! Across the UK as a whole, the median age is 40. In the 19th century, “knowing the right answer” measured through grades and standardized tests often determined opportunity. In a 21st century marked by unprecedented access to knowledge through global connectedness, knowing how to ask the right questions, adapt, and collaborate will determine opportunity. Dolphins are very curious, great communicators, highly social, and community-minded. They are adaptable and playful but also strong and fierce when they need to be (the top of the food chain – the killer whale or orca – is actually a dolphin). Some things only money can buy: better access to education, healthcare, iPhones, and vacations; but what about things you cant buy, such as the foundations of a healthy childhood?
