London | DesignMyNight World-Class: Best Burlesque Shows in London | DesignMyNight

We’re totally biased (obviously), but there are few destinations with such a diverse range of culinary offerings – both in terms of influence and price. Sure, you can spend a couple of hundred pounds on a stellar meal, but there are so many amazing cheap eats to discover too. This iconic LGBT+ venue has welcomed everyone from Lily Savage (slaying on stage) to Princess Diana (enjoying a sneaky night out in the '80s). Now Grade II listed and reasonably safe from developers, the Royal Vauxhall Tavernis open seven nights a week for drinking, dancing and drag shows, and queer cabaret platform Bar Wotever has become a Tuesday institution. The god thing, by the way, is called Arishem. Londoners can have a lot of fun watching Eternals by pretending the characters are saying "Amersham" every time they say "Arishem". Well, I did anyway. Moon Knight (2022) Erm, that's not Tottenham Court Road. Which branch of the multiverse are we in? The inconspicuous Bloomsbury restaurant, miles away from any other decent Chinese spots, serves up a menu of very traditional Sichuan cooking. Here too you’ll find nose-to-tail eating – except the Chinese we’re doing it long before St. John – that comes in the form of shareable dishes or hot pots loaded with skewered meat and veg. The externals on the gallery are confusing. An establishing shot (top of above image) sees Gravik and G'iah driving across Lambeth Bridge and appearing to head for Thames House, home of MI5. But when Gravik gets out of the car, he's seen heading into Trinity House on Tower Hill, a couple of miles away (and confirmed when he re-emerges, bottom of above image).

That the Parisian outpost is nigh-on impossible to get into should tell you everything you need to know about Frenchie, the stellar restaurant from French chef Gregory Marchand. Don’t get it twisted (told you we’re down with the young folk) the food here is quality, and deserves all the hype it gets. Don’t forget to try a drop of their homemade sriracha sauce. It’s a great date spot, particularly as when you’re finished you can pop down to the cheekily hidden secret bar “Hester’s Hideout” downstairs.

Want to relax but don’t want to miss out on a great view and (maybe) a gorgeous sunset? Netil House’s saunas allow you to get your fix of both. Go for a soak by yourself or bring your mates and unwind while overlooking east London, then grab a drink at the rooftop bar to continue your zen. After sweeping up many a Michelin star, Daniel Galmiche set his sights on 190 Queen’s Gate, to which he brings charm and the wow factor. The pasta, silky but perfectly al dente, is expertly dressed in the most delicious sauces – the pappardelle with fennel sausage and peppercorn ragu is one of the best things we’ve eaten all year. Fact. Seasonal Italian dishes spanning the country’s regions from heel to tip? There’s nothing not to love about the food at Paesan, where Italian street food meets countryside cuisine. Located underneath two railway arches behind Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre, this intimate south-east London club has been booking top house and techno DJs and producers from around the world since 2005. They have one of London’s best soundsystems, and are involved in developing underused urban spaces around the capital for use as socially minded arts venues.
