Families across the country will be following Norman the bear's adventure at Bee School this autumn, when the amusing and colourful picture book The Bumblebear (Nadia Shireen; Random House) goes out to every reception-age child in England. He comes up with a hilarious plan to dress up as a bee to join bee school and try to blend in. When questioned about how BIG he is, Norman confirms that he’s a special bee from giant bee land!

Dressed in a bear-sized bee costume, Norman makes a convincing, if rather large, bee. He thoroughly enjoys the lessons and learns all sorts of useful skills, such as buzzing, waggly dancing and even flying. The other bees love him, as he always tries his best and is great fun to be around. It takes place every year on the 20th May and is the perfect opportunity to spread awareness and talk about how important bees are.
