About this deal

So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. The song was the first single released by the Tom Robinson Band, who had formed in January 1977 and was signed to EMI in August 1977.

Robinson wrote the song between leaving Café Society in 1976 and forming the Tom Robinson Band the following year, at a time when he was performing with whichever friends were available on the night; thus, the song had to be simple enough to learn in a few minutes. Lots of people in the punk community hated poor Tom because He was for gay rights, with songs like "Glad To Be Gay". The chorus hook was a straight lift from my favourite chant at Gay Lib demos - ‘2,4,6,8, Gay is twice as good as straight. The verse lyric came from having done cheap gigs around the country with my previous band Cafe Society, and driving back through the night from places like Scarborough and Rotherham.Records that aren't in picture sleeves will either be in a company sleeve or a generic plain sleeve. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

There’s nothing very punky about their first single either, but its stomping beat and shout-along chorus made it a hit.Led Zeppelin never won a Grammy Award; Jimmy Page and Robert Plant earned their first trophies in 2000 for "Most High," a song they wrote together that explores the role of religion in society. He lives in East London indulging his passions of writing, reading, cinema, music, football, cricket, and vegetable gardening.
