If you don’t hear a hissing sound when you turn the radiator key or no water comes out, it could indicate that there is no trapped air in the radiator.

Take your radiator key (or flat-headed screwdriver if you don’t have a radiator key to hand), and attach the end of the key to the square slit in the centre of the valve. Place the cloth or towel or washing up bowl below the bleed valve to catch any water that may drip out during the process. This prevents any water from staining your flooring or carpets.
Most standard size manual radiator bleed valves are ½”. However, they are also available in ¼” and ⅜” thread sizes. So make sure to measure your current bleed valve to help you find the correct replacement.
