About this deal

We all need to wake up and accept the only person responsible for our life is ourselves. Other people play their parts, but the shape of our lives has a lot to do with how we show up. Thanks Francois. It’s been a while since I wrote that post, but I’m glad you liked it. I might reread the book again soon. I think books like Way of the Peaceful Warrior are important as we get so mixed up trying to live a good life we forget what ask what that means. Warriors, warriors we call ourselves. We fight for splendid virtue, for high endeavor, for sublime wisdom, therefore we call ourselves warriors. — Aunguttara Nikaya a Buddhist scripture.

Concentration - harped upon thruought the book- clear your mind of distractions and the silliness of everyday doubts , worries , etc; In the grand scheme , unimportant trivialities. Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives, H J Kramer, 20th Anniversary Edition, ISBN 0-915811-89-8 Anxious, flawed, freak, shy, worthless.’ With words like these in our mind, it becomes the reality we experience. Repeat them enough times as we start to believe those words. The result is more fear, shame, then despair and mediocrity. This book is about a journey, like many good books are. It resonates with many of us because we’re also on a path. Trying to figure how to live, find success, happiness and have it all mean something along the way. Well, it's all of those things and quite a few more. Because it is a true story and true stories are part of life and don't fit into neat categories."My journey has had such moments. It’s only through knowledge and awareness can we ever hope to live a good life. The postscript states that Dan and his Berkeley Gymnastics Team won their first National title. It is implied at the end, in a postscript appearing on screen, that Dan of the film and Dan the author of the book on which the film is based are one and the same. It is also stated that the latter Dan lives with his wife Joy. It’s an essential read for anyone, particularly men, who want to realise their potential and live a happy life. I personally used to be under constant assault from my own mind. Incessant thoughts, fantasies, anxieties, etc, would be playing internally all damn day. I would try to numb it through alcohol, weed, video-games, junk-food, etc, but all those things are just crappy short-term solutions. der Schreibstil ist holperig und so mitreißend wie eine fünfstündige Dokumentation über Rechtsverordnungen als historische Textsorte

Probably the biggest obstacle we have in finding success and happiness is the idea that we must protect ourselves at all costs. We need to be jolted out of our illusions. We often think to be disillusioned is a negative thing, we lost something. But disillusioned means to break an illusion, and falsehood or deception, it’s liberating. Yet such an attitude prevents us from experiencing life. Shutting out the pain and suffering means we don’t get to feel the joy and happiness that come with it.I have no doubt that this book was life changing for some people, but for anyone who's already done any research into alternate spirituality, this read like "New age 101". For a complete newbie, this might b We seem to have a sense of entitlement. But this is our ego talking. The world doesn’t revolve around us, it owes us nothing. Now While this book may be 'too simple' for some literary types, I feel it is an excellent story that can speak to all people from all walks of life. Regardless of how successful he seems on the outside, on the inside, his world is crumbling with each passing moment.

I originally posted my lessons from Peaceful Warrior on my work blog because Sources of Insight didn’t exist at the time.In the recurring dreams, one particular face stands out, a white-haired person, who can unravel the knots. He believes that this man, whoever he is, can help him interpret his dreams , and put an end to the nightmares that make him go crazy at night time. This review is for my personal journal not for you to read so feel free not to read this : These are more rambling notes and observations for me to reflect on in the future. I have no doubt that this book was life changing for some people, but for anyone who's already done any research into alternate spirituality, this read like "New age 101". For a complete newbie, this might be just what you need to open up new vistas of thought.

The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less. Further still, beware your own expectations. The expectations we place upon ourselves can be far more stringent than we expect of others. This book provides many insights into all of those areas especially when it comes to becoming more self-disciplined and living a joyful purpose-driven life. You will start to understand how you can live joyfully yet to a high standard without self-sabotaging yourself. You will also experience insights into human nature and spiritual growth. Put simply, this book will enhance your ability to perform physically, mentally, and spiritually. About Dan Millman It’s a waste of energy and time trying to live up to others expectations. Such an existence means you will be trying forever to live someone else’s life. I think I do want to read some more self help books to see if I may glean some bits of wisdom that may help me in my goal.Silence is the warrior’s art — and meditation is his sword. With it, you’ll cut through your illusions. But understand this: the sword’s usefulness depends upon the swordsman. If you don’t know how to use the weapon properly, it can become a dangerous, deluding, or useless tool. Meditation can initially help you to relax. You may put your ‘sword’ on display, proudly show it to friends. The gleam of this sword distracts many meditators until they abandon it to seek other esoteric techniques." Your feelings and reactions are automatic and predictable; mine are not. I create my life spontaneously; yours are determined by your thoughts, your emotions, your past.” The above insight usually takes most seekers a lifetime to realize. It’s only after they exhaust themselves on their search that they realize what they’ve been looking for (inner-peace, spiritual freedom, self-mastery, etc) was within them all along. Right now, we have all of these gifts within us but we keep making the mistake thinking that they’re out somewhere else on a mountaintop. Insight #11 Unreasonable happiness We are fragile creatures, vulnerable to suffering and hardship. Our response to this hardship is to toughen ourselves up. To armour ourselves against loss and pain. Become stronger, don’t feel, don’t show emotions because that’s a sign of weakness.
