About this deal

An additional military die. There are two takes I can think of on this existing die. One, it’s an alternate die that can be rolled. When selecting the dice you get to roll, you choose 2 of the 3 options. OR you could create an alternate die with really powerful abilities on them. Instead of rolling 2 dice, you’d roll this one specific die. This was inspired by how powerful the elemental die (I could have that name wrong) is in the Dice Forge Expansion. It’s difficult to activate that die, but the benefits are pretty awesome. We rarely work directly with third-party accessory creators, but in this case we thought we could best serve Tapestry fans by partnering with Folded Space. That way we could test the insert as it evolved, and we could reveal the various secrets of the third expansion to facilitate in the creation of the insert.

Before I jump in for the final design diary, I just want to thank everyone who has read along, liked, and commented on these posts. I love composing them, but not in a vacuum—it’s you who make this journey special. I’m grateful for your enthusiasm and curiosity, and I look forward to continuing that journey in the coming days and months.Links and charms: Even before we had started brainstorming for the third expansion, Mike had come up with the idea that he called “links,” which eventually became Tapestry charms as we firmed up the theme. Also, of note: the game ends for each player after they take their fifth income turn. That won’t necessarily be at the same time for everyone. In most of the games I’ve played, it’s only left a player waiting 5-10 minutes after they are done for everyone else to wrap up. At the extreme though, it was nearly half an hour. This is probably abnormal but definitely possible and—especially because the player to end that early probably didn’t do very well—feels pretty bad. As you place income buildings, you’ll uncover spaces on your player mat. Everything uncovered during an income turn will be activated. Final Thoughts:

However, Tapestry comes in a pretty big box, so I polled Tapestry fans a while ago to see if they’d rather us make an organizer box (which would be a quite expensive) or if they would be just as interested in a well-designed, custom insert that fits all Tapestry components (including all three expansions, and including third-party accessories like base snaps) into the original box. The majority chose the custom insert.

Tapestry: Arts & Architecture

Craftsmen seem to be statistically successful and therefore start with one less resource by the latest adjustments. Entertainers With 20 new tapestry cards in Arts & Architecture, there are now 85 different tapestry cards across the core game and both expansions! Without a doubt, the civilizations in Tapestry will lead you down a different path every time you sit down to play the game. Some give you a more focused direction while others can be more flexible, but in either case, taking advantage of your unique ability will lead you down the path of prosperity. Like last time, this campaign makes significant rule changes to provide a fresh game experience and challenges you to develop new strategies.

You discovered warships? Cool, conquer a territory. Yeah, that was the same thing you got when you figured out archery a few centuries ago, what of it? Remember when we floated a raft and explored a new tile? Now we have trains! So yeah, we explore a new tile. And space? The final frontier!? We’ve made it…have 4 points and a house. Mastering herbalism also gave us a house though. But … 4 points! In the first print of A/A the landmark cards vs the buildings shows the wrong layout. Is this corrected? If so, is the card or the buildings corrected?I don’t have anyone to play Tapestry with in person but I bought the expansion anyway not only because I know that one day I WILL be able to but to support Stonemaier games and all the other companies and creators whose work I’m passionate about experiencing.

As in my #1 game of 2018, Everdell, Tapestry puts each player on their own unique timeline, where you move through four eras (and score at the start of your fifth, ending your own game) at a pace of your choosing, and you might end your era several turns before another player does so. You begin each era by taking income, which includes gaining resources, scoring some points, and later in the game gaining additional bonuses. You start eras two through four by placing a tapestry card that gives you a special ability or power for the duration of that era, then upgrade one of your existing technology cards and take all of the goodies coming to you for your income, including increasing victory point totals as you uncover multipliers on your personal board. We reflected this in the expansion by letting the Weefolk place tokens on other players’ boards, achieving a mutual benefit. Folklore says the Faefolk–aka fairies–travel between some other “abode” and our normal universe. We reflected this in the game by letting the Faefolk cycle among different benefits, depending on how they manipulate their civilization’s development (in terms of Tapestry card count).”I’ve mentioned in other design diaries (for other games’ expansions) that working on an Automa expansion is often a casual affair, as the design challenges from the base game have already been overcome. Designing for the expansion usually provides few surprises and affords us an opportunity to get creative alongside the game designer(s). Certainly, the first expansion felt that way, as evidenced by Morten’s scenario campaign included in Tapestry: Plans and Ploys. For Arts and Architecture, we needed to spend quite a bit of our time just making sure that all the new material worked well against Automa. As you can see from the various elements I’ve already revealed for Arts & Architecture, it’s already quite a bit expansion. But we couldn’t resist making it a little bigger by adding 5 new civilizations to Tapestry. Final Score: 4.5 Stars – Easy to learn with lots of strategic depth. Unique civ powers make every game different.
