Hardness and durability are where your typical die grinder bits run circles around everything else on offer. These things are meant to last and produce consistent results no matter what they’re used on. This will range from commonly-used metals such as stainless steel, iron, aluminium and copper, precious metals like gold and silver, and a wide range of plastics, to harder materials like ceramics, tiles, gemstones and masonry. What is a right angle die grinder used for? A right angle die grinder is used to work at tight spaces where the straight grinders cannot fit it. The straight version of the tool along with the cutting bit may be too long to work inside the machine and automobile parts. Carbide burrs are widely used for metalwork, tool making, engineering, model engineering, wood carving, jewellery making, welding, chamfering, casting, deburring, grinding, cylinder head porting and sculpting. 3. The Various Shapes of Carbide Burrs and How To Use Them
Before ending this article, I want to look at some of the special bits and wheels that you can use on your die grinder.
Generally, a metal burr is manufactured from either high strength steel (HSS) or Tungsten Carbide. When working with metals only, tungsten carbide burrs are mostly preferable. This is due to their durability in handling several demanding jobs without wear or tear. The HSS burrs, on the other hand, have a reduced tolerance for heat. As a result, high temperature and pressure tend to soften the HSS tool. Compared to HSS, tungsten carbide burrs can last longer. Weld Spots: If you do metalworking, then you know how annoying welds can be. A die grinder can easily remove the excess welds for smoother, cleaner looking metalwork. This is definitely a must-have tool if you do a lot of welding or metalwork of any kind.
