About this deal

So I love this book a lot. I read it by chance. It's nonfiction, but it has a real fiction-y feel. I think, for me, the big thing about this book was, it's the transformation of a woman... for herself, and then later for her children. And as a mother, I feel like so much of what I try to be is a good example to my kid, or I don't want to lose my temper in front of my kid, at a micro level. This is at a macro level. This lady has really changed her life. Our kids see us as just mum, or dad, as a parent, that's all you are. They don't think of you as a person, who's had adventures, and who gets things wrong, and who doesn't know the answer. Sara tells us: "We loved the first series and we were definitely keen to do more — let’s face it, we’re never going to run out of books! So yeah, when we got the call that it was happening again, I was really chuffed. I was also really chuffed that one of the big hitters from last year, I’d already read, so that was a bonus — because obviously there’s quite a lot of reading to do with the 12 books!" This year, as Liverpool and the UK prepare to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 on behalf of Ukraine, each episode will also feature a novel set in a Eurovision country.

One book will be a so-called “big hitter”, hugely successful books that more people should have on their shelves like Shuggie Bain. You can’t have a book club without books, and there will be plenty of recommendations on Between the Covers! Each week, Sara Cox and her guests will focus on two books (alongside those brought along by her guests). Amanda Ross, co-founder and CEO of Cactus TV, says: “I am often asked how we find and select compelling books for the series, and the simple answer is we read them! Our job was especially tough this series because there have been so many amazing and original books published this season; consequently we were spoilt for choice, so I’m more confident than ever that we have something for everyone.BBC Arts has announced that Between The Covers is returning to BBC Two for a fifth series in November 2022 with Sara Cox hosting. The story centres around four women who attend the local community centre for a pottery class. They all have problems. The characters are likeable, interesting and believable. A story of friendships, that are heartwarming and funny. This enjoyable read held my attention throughout.

The celebrity panellists keen to share their love of reading include Rob Delaney, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Nish Kumar, Sandi Toksvig, Richard Armitage, Ellie Taylor, Ade Edmondson, Kerry Godliman, Bill Paterson, Annie Macmanus, Chris McCausland, Alex Jones, Ben Miller, Andi Osho, Ed Byrne, Suzi Ruffell, Omari Douglas, Angela Barnes, Adam Kay, Anita Rani, Ahir Shah, Laura Smyth, Jo Brand and Miles Jupp. The conversation continues on social media across the six-part series, and viewers will come away from every episode with exciting new reading lists to see them through the winter nights. The story was getting increasingly ridiculous and was really resembling a soap opera more than a well-written novel, so that's why I've decided to finish off here. I won't leave a star review, because it doesn't seem right if I haven't even read to the end. Sara Cox says: “Cannot wait to welcome more witty, wise and wonderful guests in to the world’s friendliest book club as we delve ‘between the covers’ for the sixth time!”At its core it is a book about justice, how we reach for justice, and, of course, what it means that children have an innate sense of what that justice is. They're born with it, and this describes that so beautifully and magically. Now that the BBC has released the full schedule and reading list for Between the Covers, we’ve got a full rundown of every celebrity guest later in this article.

My only sight criticism is it was a little predictable at times but it was such a fun read I didn’t mind that too much. Sara Cox’s debut novel, Thrown, aboutfour women who attend apottery classheld at a community centre, has gone to Coronet. Amanda Ross, CEO of Cactus TV, who heads the book selection panel says: “It’s a joy to be able to shine a light on great books, with great company from the entertaining panels that we know will inspire more people to read for fun. I think these six new books include some of the best we’ve chosen for the series so far, and I can’t wait to hear what the viewers think.” The inhabitants of the Inventor's Housing Estate keep themselves to themselves. There are the friendly 'Hellos' when commutes coincide and the odd cheeky eye roll when the wine bottles clank in number 7's wheelie bin, but it's not exactly Ramsay Street. Jameela: all she's ever done is work hard, and try her best. Why won't life give her the one thing she really wants?

She’s very much a mashup of Bette Midler and Betty from Coronation Street but my mum is convinced that Sheila is basically her. Sara Cox I suggest you find a quiet, comfy spot, grab a brew and brace for your ‘to be read’ pile to get even taller and more teetering, as we return with a fifth series of the world’s most welcoming book club.” — Sara Cox Between The Covers (6 x 30’) was commissioned by Emma Cahusac, Commissioner for BBC Arts. Created and produced by Cactus TV, Exec Produced by Amanda Ross with Series Producer Pollyanne Conway.

I read all the Judy Blume books and obviously The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole. Riders and Polo combined some fruity frolics and horses and that blew my 15-year-old mind. English lit A-level really brought Shakespeare to life – I read Romeo and Juliet with my sister before she went away to London, cuddled up on a top bunk. What’s really refreshing is I’m used to interviewing people about their latest podcast, or their new single or album, or their TV show or stand-ups show, and there’s none of that on this, nobody’s plugging anything, they come on just because they love books and they want to talk about books," adds Sara. Each week, each celebrity guest will bring their favourite book of all time along to discuss with fellow guests. My most honest answer is probably Victoria Hislop or Philippa Gregory. I met Philippa Gregory actually – she was very nice but I fangirled her a bit and I don’t think authors are really into that. I’ll tell you who I want to read more of – Maggie O’Farrell.Get this: my cleaner has organised them by colour. It’s not great and I’m too polite to say anything. I don’t know why I’m whispering – I don’t think she reads the Observer.
