About this deal

The film does an excellent job of exploring the relationships among the passengers. Each one of them is dealing with their own personal struggles - some have lost loved ones, some are running from their past, and some are struggling to find their place in the world. That may be part of the problem. John Wayne's "Island in the Sky" had a similar plot, with an airplane down in the frozen woods of Canada, but the survivors looked uncomfortable, dazed, and on the verge of despair. This also includes travel on bus, Tube, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth Line as well as National Rail services within London. Quinlan, David (1984). British Sound Films: The Studio Years 1928–1959. London: B.T. Batsford Ltd. p. 196. ISBN 0-7134-1874-5.

That may be part of the story. But the alleged “bourgeoisification” of the red wall does not explain why, when Ronnie Campbell and his wife went canvassing in Blyth in 2019, “there were more Labour votes in the posh areas than there were in the council estates”. The true trauma of December 2019 was that Labour lost its emotional rapport with the less well-off. And throughout his road trip, Payne encounters again and again the desire for a restoration of what Phil Wilson – defeated in Tony Blair’s former seat of Sedgefield – describes as “communality”. This surely, rather than aspirational individualism, drove the Brexit revolt among the working class; a desire that places should be able to take charge of their collective destinies again. As Payne points out, Boris Johnson made sure that the Conservative party reaped the electoral rewards of the insurgency. If you are a fan of 1940s british films you will recognise most of the cast and perhaps the writer ,the director and the writer of the music. Don’t you have friends from there?” Junpei says. Yukari resists the urge to shout at him. His timing is terrible! The Monthly Film Bulletin wrote: "This is a sentimental yet well-constructed film, each little tale being carefully co-ordinated, and each bit of life neatly dovetailed. There are moments of great beauty, such as when Romer recites a poem as a funeral oration over John's grave. This is poignant and gripping in the extreme. The mountain scenes are obviously accurate – they were taken in Haute-Savoie– and the photography is clear and good. The competent cast play intelligently. [18] A plane crashes into the Alps, but the passengers and crew survive. However, the radio is out. On board: an opera singer, Perami (Francis L. Sullivan), a movie star (Joanna Dane), a man in an iron long (John Barber), his nurse (Sonia Holm), the pilot, James Donald (Bill Halverton), the flight attendant (Phyllis Calvert), and other assorted characters. While Yuuki’s last minute arrival to save them from the Emperor and Empress Shadow is welcomed, Yukari still couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that he cares (he does care, huh) more about them than himself off. You asked me before, why I said I was sorry for not coming with you,” He explains, his voice soft, his eyes gentle. He looks away and down at his hands, his fingers nervously playing on the small scars on them. “I was afraid of bonds… or rather, of people.”

But in the end, he never made enough mistakes to land himself in a bind, so Kirijou and Sanada hadn’t said anything. Maybe a little talk, and some chiding, sure, but that’s all they’ve done so far. You know,” She begins, a little pensive, drawing his attention to her. She scoots over, a little closer, the hand on his arm squeezing lightly, reassuringly. “I’m sorry, for the things I said. I should’ve handled it better when I knew nothing about your situation.”

Production Real Life Inspiration Morane-Saulnier-built version of the Fieseler Storch STOL aircraft, similar to ones used in the actual mountain rescue of the 1946 C-53 Skytrooper crash on the Gauli Glacier. Sydney Box became head of production of Gainsborough Studios in 1946. He commissioned Robert Westerby, who had a reputation for writing contemporary thrillers, to do a script. Michael Balcon was also developing a film based on the same story, and registered an idea with the British Producers Association, but once he heard Box was doing a film as well he withdrew his project. In postwar Europe, while flying over the Swiss Alps, a Fox Airways Douglas DC-3 airliner experiences engine trouble and sends out a distress call. Pilot Captain Fox and co-pilot Bill Haverton set the aircraft down on a glacier with a minimum of damage, but know that they will not be able to radio for help with run-down batteries and a storm setting in. The words that shouldn’t have coexisted within one sentence are what Yukari thinks describe Yuuki best, and she does not like the way they sound. Radio Times Guide to Films (18th ed.). London: Immediate Media Company. 2017. p. 135. ISBN 9780992936440.The plane is headed to Cape Town but is forced to make an unexpected landing in the middle of the Sahara Desert due to mechanical trouble. The passengers are stranded with limited food, water, and no means of communication to the outside world. Junpei! Distract it!” He calls, hand going for the Evoker. Junpei nods in confirmation as he puts the barrel against his temple, summoning forth Hermes to his side.

She feels a lump forming in her throat, unsure of what to say. In the end, she chooses not to – he’s opening up, to her, and it’s not her place to comment on anything.

As tensions rise and emotions run high, the passengers are forced to confront their fears and confront each other's shortcomings. Keith and Eleanor's new marriage is tested when they find out that they cannot conceive children. Joan, the journalist, starts to question her own motivations for being on the plane in the first place. What stands out most in this film is the location shooting. You have rarely seen such a picturesque atmosphere of jagged Alps, knee-deep snow, and treacherous glacial chasms. The staged scenes are seamlessly blended with the location shots. They did a marvelous job, so much so that it hardly looks more hostile than inviting -- a kind of fairyland. Not an abrasive surface or a bit of vegetation in sight. You can talk to me, if you want to,” She offers quietly, still keeping her eyes on him. “I know I’m not the best person for this, but… I guess you could use an ear or two.” Wait!” She calls, running to match his increasingly fast pace. He has somehow stopped the bleeding with a roll of gauze, but he does limp a little. He only turns to her with a small but noticeable confused look on his face. When she reaches him, she stops him from walking and points at the wound. “Why would you do that when you know I can’t heal you?” The film revolves around the ideas of courage, selfishness, and self-sacrifice as the passengers fight to survive as their food runs out and the cold settles into their bones, and they all start to get on one another's nerves.
