About this deal

Moyet's ninth studio album Other, described as "intelligent, adventurous electronic pop," co-produced by Guy Sigsworth, was released 16 June 2017 on Cooking Vinyl.

Raindancing spawned further hit singles, including a cover of Floy Joy's " Weak in the Presence of Beauty" and " Ordinary Girl". The album was co-written by the duo and Moyet, with the exception of " Invisible", which was written for Moyet by Lamont Dozier. In the United States, the album would prove to be Moyet's most successful commercially, peaking at No.

In an interview with Touchbase the following June, Moyet confirmed that she was still recording her album and that she was not rushing it. In December 2006, Moyet signed a recording contract with W14 Music, [17] a Universal Music Group imprint. Music technology at that time had moved on to a very large extent, sound sampling was now de-riguer sample play back devices such as drum machines and synths, along with new digital recording equipment such as SSl and mitsubishi and mcl recording consoles were all becoming the norm way to make music via Fairlight CMI, Synclavier, Linn drum, yamaha dx7 etc etc, and all this meant that the sound of the music we were hearing would never be the same. Scored and produced by Moyet's neighbour (and Academy Award winner) Anne Dudley, the album was later re-issued with a bonus track, "Alfie". Writing and recording sessions had to be done with haste due to Swain and Jolley's other commitments as producers. In a retrospective review, Stewart Mason of AllMusic summarised: "Hooking up with Bananarama's producers, Tony Swain and Steve Jolley, Moyet delivers an enormous, walloping mid-'80s pop sound that constantly threatens to overwhelm both the songs, which are a mixed bag, and occasionally even the formidably voiced singer herself. Its doubtless that in 32 years time many many people will still be enjoying, singing, crying and loving to this 'Alf' album, and by then the generic overuse of the term "80's" in all its despiseable condesension and put down tone, will have long since dissapeared and the music shall once more be evaluated for what it is,for what it Was and what it will continue to be forever more, excellent likeable acceptable Timeless good music and song, sang by a Real singer that the world still needs so badly to blow away the blues .
