About this deal

There’s a random zombie wandering around the entryway just as you walk in, and Marvin will show up at some point, too. Capcom via Polygon

So, you’re stepping into Resident Evil 2 for the first time. The first, and perhaps most obvious, advice is to make every bullet count. You’re going to start out with nothing but a pistol in the opening sections of the game as Leon and Claire, and it’s important to always aim for the head. You want to cut it free and follow the hallway to the very end, until you reach the Operations Room. Once inside you can grab a map there if you wish. You have to climb through the open window on the left wall of the room, with a crate in front of it. If it's everyone's favorite rookie cop that you've been playing as in Resident Evil 2, then you're going to be faced with a particularly tough final boss to finish off the entire game. For a detailed guide on how to take down this monster, head over to our Resident Evil 2 Leon's final boss guide (no spoilers here). Looking for more help, whether it's specific puzzle solutions off the beaten path, or how to find certain items? The following can help. Follow the only path and you will reach a room with a computer in which you can enter blue alien symbols. This computer will allow you to enter 2 codes which you will have to find. One of them opens a ladder in the area with plant-zombies, the other one opens the shutter for machine with green fluid. The codes can be found on the ladder itself and on a trophy on a table in the lounge after you took the ladder. The codes are identical on all difficulties and if you imagine the symbols to represent a number pad (like on your phone) the codes are: 3123 and 2067. (For B-Scenario 2048 and 5831).Inside the office within the office, the safe combination is still the same, so enter it — 9 left, 15 right, 7 left — for a Hip Pouch. Keep following the hallway until you find the door to the Operations Room on your right. Operations Room As soon as you enter, grab the Wooden Boards and Large-caliber Handgun Ammo on this side of the fence. Head up the stairs and into the second floor. Police Station 2F hallway and Art Room From now on Leon’s and Claire’s playthrough will be identical again until almost the very end of the game. With 3 chess plugs in the wall, you will have to find 3 more to open and vault-like door and save Sherry / Ada. Head through the door left of the big window and use the lever to move the bridge. Cross it and head left first until you reach a cable car. Grab the T-bar Valve Handle since you will need it twice. The Police Station is where Resident Evil 2 really starts. What you’ll do in the next few hours is a template for the rest of the game. Police Station Main Hall

Congratulations! You have finished the game, but there is a lot more to come. You can play as the other character now or you could also try the 2nd run. Secondly, you’re going to want to leave your shotgun, or any other weapons, as a last resort. Pistol ammo is the most common type of ammo to find in Resident Evil 2, so use the pistol first, and save the shotgun for when you’re either dealing with multiple zombies shuffling towards you at once, or a big boss battle. The W-870 shotgun. | Hirun Cryer/USG, Capcom

Next, you can also predict their moves from which way their head is facing. The nasty set of teeth is what's going to deal the damage, so if they're not looking at you, they can't do anything about your presence. If one is slowly stumbling towards you, pay attention to that noggin. If it's looking left while you want to go right, you should be able to carefully move beside it without a scratch. Inspect items for more information and uses With the gear and the Orange Box in your inventory now head through the second door in the 3rd Floor to the roof. Climb down the ladder (it will break for Leon) and search for the valve at the lower level. The Police Station in the 2nd run is the same for Claire and Leon, but it’s not the same as it was the last time you were here. (We use Claire images below, but this part of the campaign is effectively identical for Leon, too.) You’re surrounded by more and tougher zombies and equipped with fewer bullets. The puzzles change. Item Boxes and Typewriters have moved and disappeared. Our guides are here to help. In the Library use the Handle and move the shelves to form a bridge for the floor above. Move the shelf on the right once to the left, the one you needed the handle for once to the right and push the remaining 2 shelves to the right twice each. You can also use the Bolt Cutter to get yourself into the East Office - but beware, as zombies will be trying to get through a window here too, and another in the smaller office room in the corner.
