About this deal

If the vintage was a beast mode performer, I can confirm that the current formulation certainly is not. You can get this for a pretty good price so I'm not complaining too very much about the performance - I'm perfectly okay with re-application if it's a fragrance I enjoy and it's not a fortune, but after around the 90-minute mark it's basically a skin scent (at least on me).

Armani Code Giorgio Armani cologne - a fragrance for men 2004 Armani Code Giorgio Armani cologne - a fragrance for men 2004

Code EDP is a sensual fragrance, ideal for dates or romantic outings, or office work, because it is not intrusive either, also to be used in cool or cold weather, in autumn and winter it is an excellent option. It is a fragrance easy to like, for people who enjoy sweet and vanilla fragrances. great initial lavender. slightly citrusy. stays very clean with ample hints of musk. looks almost powdery. tonka bean is not intrusive to me, it seems almost almondy. remains very spicy, sharp. a good hint of cedar also makes it balsamic. suede makes it even more pleasantly powdery. but always sharply spicy. the lavender and citrus fruits remain. vanilla is absolutely not sweet and cloying but it is pleasantly non-gourmand. Where is the tobacco supposed to be here? No idea. I smell a citric note followed by gentle vanilla. The scent is pleasant, but it doesn't bother anyone, but it's also nothing special. Armani Code is a typical office fragrance. Many like it for the nostalgia, but I find Armani Code boring. And as for tonka bean, there are far better scents out there. Longevity / performance wise, I’m not seeing much difference either. Even the early batches of the EDT I always though projection was average-to-good, longevity was poor-to-average on skin but amazing on clothes. I get the same with the current EDT and the EDP.

The note accords in Code EDP are pretty much blended to perfection. Providing a very high quality scent that will likely appeal to "everyone" that catches whiffs of its sillage. Additionally, Code EDP has a sh1t load of swag appeal as well! I started to wear tester of Armani Code EDP, and now I reminded first impressions I had while temporarily owning Code EDT some time ago, so here goes my very first review of one of my very first experiences with fragrance world. I have an older 2006 batch that is finally on its last leg at around 10 mls. This is my all time favorite fragrance as it literally grew up with me. The newer batches are more fresh than the older versions, the older had a more dry powdery leather tobacco with vanilla surrounding it while the newer is more top heavy musky Tonka with very little to no tobacco or leather. I will miss this when it is gone but the new edp is similar enough to get the job done, no tobacco and not dry at all but a nice leather/suede vanilla with a nice projection and around 80 percent the same.

After trying it today I get it. I can't describe it any better, there's an "animalistic" undertone here that's unpleasant, but it grows on you the more you smell it.Armani Code has a very soft and gently approach. This fragrance is very welcoming and inviting. This is something I like to wear when I go to sleep because of how soothing it smells. The best way I can explain how this smells is a sort of powdery leather with a little hint of something that is reminiscent of a barber shop. There's a lot of fragrances I like or even love from the opening to drydown, and some I like only during drydown.

Particularly, I just have a problem with this scent: I can't wear it for two days in a row, since something about it makes me tired, making impossible the idea of having it as my olfactory signature. As far as longevity, I find it's starting to fade at around the 6 hour mark, and almost completely gone by 8 hours. It's above average and adequate, but not beast mode. I honestly can't understand the thinking of the company, i.e. it has completely destroyed a fragrance that has received a lot of awards and they have reached the point where perfume clones distribute more to Armani code and expect to continue selling.... They are taking advantage of the fact that they still buy the perfume and keep changing it and ruining it.... It's a shame because it was a perfume that is among with my memories from 15-25 years old and I really say fortunately that I have kept some of the old bottles.. .... But one day, it was a hot day, with high humidity.. my boyfriend (now my husband) wore it and.. NOPE! It's a nope nope! I got an instant headache and it hurted my nose! Love it, it’s the old Code but modernized. If you think Absolu or Profumo are too sweet, this is the one for you. It’s much darker and serious. My favorite is still Absolu but this is great. As for performance, I’m not sure. I only tried it on a tester strip.

Longevity doesn't seem enormous, but 4~6 sprays should last you a good 6 hours or so. So, you could say that it's an underperformer FOR AN EDP. Otherwise, it's just fine! Even to my untrained nose this smells almost nothing like LeMale Perfume. They have similarities but LeMale is more on the unisex side while this is more masculine and smells sharper(in a good way) Of course at the time I was too young to even know what the hell "notes" were in a fragrance. I just enjoyed the smell. And I remember one time when I was in the elevator of my apartment complex at the time. I was in there with 3 other random girls in their mid 20's, all smoking hot. One of them exclaimed "someone smells REALLY good in here". Me being the awkward 15 year old didn't say a word LOL. So cringy. But a funny memory.Middle notes are Star Anise, Olive Blossom and Guaiac Wood: Maybe the faintest light wood smell drowning in powder The opening has similarities and differences. With the edt I always thought there were two smells you get on first spray - a slightly “sweaty” base and a freshness on top. There isn’t (as far as I’m aware) any cumin in it, but I do get an almost cumin like vibe mixed in with the citrus on the EDT. The EDP is basically the same slightly cumin-like smell but without the citrus freshness. And to be honest, the EDP almost comes across as too “sweaty” for me in the first half an hour. They use the entire Olive tree in this perfume - from the leaves, to the flower, fruit and wood. The ingredients listed above are not correct. The initial impression is like bug spray, especially with that tonka vanilla-like base. It's a very sweet smelling Eau de Baygon - it makes bug spray smells delicious enough to drink. This is quite linear for the most part but quite an attractive scent all the way through !! It opens up slightly citrusy, semi dark, but also creamy and smooth. Differences between the opening and mid are as it dries down it loses that citrusy edge and the vanilla takes over but even in the dry down the citrus is there giving it a fresh/soapy touch.
