Fiona: I would love a piece of card or laminate to accompany this object for ideas as to how to dress your child for the temperatures it is demonstrating. Sometimes it did become very overwhelming with what the temperature of the room was and as a new parent there was concern as to how to deal with this temperature. Also a dimmable switch would be great so you could choose an option that was slightly darker but still showed the light. Product Information Needs a power supply, can’t run on just batteries. This was only a problem for us during power outages – but you find after using the Groegg for a while you get a super accurate feel for room temperatures anyway (you’re a wizard Harry!) Well-known baby brand Tommee Tippee has created a useful thermometer that does double duty for both using in the nursery and at bath time.
A lot of baby monitors do have the same functions on them as the Gro-Egg, however, if you don’t use a baby monitor – if your child sleeps in with you at night, or if your baby monitor doesn’t have an inbuilt thermometer then this would be a great product for you. What is the difference between Groegg & Groegg2? The Groegg2 is a larger, brighter version of the Groegg. It also has a soft, silicone covering as opposed to the hard plastic covering of the original version. As room thermometers go, the Groegg2 is reasonably good value for money, with a price tag that’s similar to other Tommee Tippee room thermometers as well as thermometers from brands like Purflo and Philips. I’ve found the Groegg2 to be both accurate and consistent when measuring it against the readings of my home’s Hive thermostat system. While there’s usually a difference of 0.2 degrees between the two readings, the results are close enough for me to feel reassured of the Groegg2's accuracy. Can you use the Gro-Egg as a nightlight? The ingenious Groegg changes colour in response to a room’s temperature. And yes, it can also be used as a nightlight!
