Hasbro has been servicing X-Men fans like never before the last few years, and so it was only a matter of time until they got around to releasing everyone’s favorite fuzzy elf himself—Nightcrawler! The teeth have a little slop that I don’t notice in hand but becomes more obvious with close up photos. The articulation on this figure is aces, the proportions are spot-on, the three heads are a delight, and it just feels so good to see a 6” Nightcrawler on shelves again. The articulation is excellent, the extra heads are most welcome, the tail has just enough versatility for posing, and Kurt looks great swinging into action with his sword. Marvel Legends X-Men 97 Wave 1 turned out to be a terrific surprise in the latter half of 2023, bringing us what many fans consider to be definitive versions of several iconic mutants. My right “fist” was so tight I had to heat it up to get the sword in it, but with it in it works amazingly. With sticky hands, a sharp tail, and piercing yellow eyes, the trouble-making mutant Nightcrawler scales walls and teleports from place to place.

While Wave 1 brought us a very iconic-styled Magneto, Wave 2 brings us Magnus in his new black and purple costume from X-Men 97. The Marvel Legends Series Nightcrawler figure features premium animation-accurate deco and design, and over 20 points of articulation. I would have much preferred a bendy tail—and the tail swivel on mine is a lot looser than I’d like—but if that wasn’t possible, this is a better alternative than a non-movable tail by far. Nightcrawler now has double-pinless arms and legs, sculpted gloves and boots, plus shading around his eyes on the heads. I read that there would be 2 other head molds, but thought they would just be extra and I wouldn’t care about them. With a 100% new pin-less body, articulated ponytail, and alternate telekinesis hands, this is very easily the best Jim Lee styled Jean Grey we’ve ever seen from Hasbro or Toybiz.It is Comic Book accurate and has very well crafted and artistic features plus two head accessories in the package.

I guess my question is Is pinless figures worth getting more than the pinned but with more accessories? I was going to save the best for last, but truth be told this figure has been waiting long enough to be opened. Yeah, there’s some bleed through on the red paint, which is a shame, but surprisingly there’s none at all on the white.

The fuzzy blue elf lost his sword from the previous release, but still has alternate hands and an extra head. The good news is that the tail does at least swivel at the base, allowing you to get it into a variety of places and not mess up the pose you want to stick Nightcrawler in. The bad news is that it’s not bendy—I’m not sure that current toy laws would allow that in a mass-market action figure with a tail this thin.
