Travels with a Brompton is a sparkling narrative about the adventures of an English couple and their folding bicycles over nearly 30 years of exploring France . Iconic’ is an overused and clichéd term, but it certainly applies to the Brompton, and ‘Brompton Bicycle’ by David Henshaw is the definitive companion volume.The book now runs to 368 pages, and it’s superbly illustrated with mostly colour photographs, many drawn from Sturmey-Archer’s own archives. We already know of plans for a new factory to run alongside (and eventually replace) the current one, but before that there is increasing electrical assistance, and an expansion of bike docks.
