About this deal

Then of course there is the sound, which is why we buy these things, My HS7's are fed through a Fluid Audio SRI-2 which I have reviewed separately. I have them sitting on some t-akustic Insulators to eliminate any boom from the desk unit they are on top of. Yamaha HS7 is part of the HS Series cabinets are designed to eliminate unwanted resonance and increase the accuracy of sound reproduction to their extreme limit. The hs7 enclosures are constructed from a dense MDF with a damped acoustic response. HS Series engineers also employed a traditional three-way mitered-joint technique. Common to architectural design, this construction firmly anchors the corners of the enclosure to improve durability and eliminate unwanted resonance that can influence overall sound. Noise Reduction Technology Painstakingly designed to raise the bar and set a new stand for studio monitors, the Yamaha HS7 gives you incredibly accurate audio. Because of their newly developed transducers, Yamaha HS7 studio monitors boast incredibly smooth over a wide frequency range.

Users have reported a mid-range that is not quite optimal which ends up creating a two-dimensional sound rather than the atmospheric sound that you’d get in high end speakers. The PreSonus Eris E5 has 80-watt Class AB amplification (with 45-watt LF and 35-watt HF) compared to the Yamaha HS7 which has a 95-watt amplification (consisting of a 65-watt LF and a 35-watt HF). With these specs, you can get a usable frequency response in the range of 53Hz to 22kHz. The maximum is relatively loud. On the rear panel, you will find ROOM CONTROL and HIGH TRIM. These allow you to adjust the performance of your monitors to better suit your space.

Features

The construction of the overall speaker has also been designed to eliminate vibration and spill whilst maintaining structural integrity. The HS7 has a robust MDF enclosurefeaturing three-way mitred-joint cornersthat further reduce resonance.

The speaker cabinet is beautifully made and designed, it's simplistic design allows it to be very stealth, and the material used to cover the exterior of the cabinet doesn't stain or scratch easily, and it's super easy to clean. You get 65 watts driving that low frequency speaker while there are 30 watts available for the 1-inch dome high frequency driver"

The Yamaha has a superior performance edge over the Eris E5, with a clean and minimalist design and is well engineered with the Yamaha reliability. It performs reasonably well in comparison to competitors that are similarly priced. You can easily use this in both smaller and larger rooms. Much like the Yamaha HS’s ‘big brother’, the NS10s, the HS series can be used for all styles. The unforgiving and uncomplimentary nature of these monitors makes them ideal for problem-finding and referencing. Unlike studio monitors with boosted bass or treble frequencies, which may sound more flattering at first, HS Series speakers were designed to give you the most honest, precise reference possible across all styles of music. Performance-wise, the HS7 gives you some advantage over the Eris E5 which is better suited for smaller rooms. However, the Yamaha HS7 still works for both small and large studios and you won’t have to worry about problems with an extended bass that could have the negative impact of magnifying the acoustic problems in your studio, particularly if it is an untreated room. As a result, you can enjoy solid and nicely defined bottom end along with clear, accurate mids with extremely low distortion no matter the output level. High Performance Amplifier To sum it all up, my experience with these has been the best, they've almost burnt in and they are sounding great! However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. The Yamaha HS7 active studio monitor sits between the compact HS8 and the heftier HS8 in terms of form factor, striking a solid balance between the two. This makes the HS7 monitor ideal for small to medium-sized studio spaces where you can appreciate the low-end extension. The HS7 is worth considering over the HS5 if you require extra onboard bass presence and is also a more affordable alternative to the HS8 if you’re after a larger monitor for your studio.
