About this deal

Imagine the possibilities with Barbie! There’s a wide range of Barbie dolls, playsets and fashions to explore, from the beautiful Barbie Dreamhouse to the latest Fashionistas. Every year a new fashion booklet was issued, showing any new Daisy dolls, and all her latest fashions for that year. Each booklet had a theme; the first, in 1973, being called My Fashion Diary, telling all about Daisy's year and the various outfits she wears each month for various occasions. The 1974 booklet is called My Round the World Holiday, in which Daisy travels the world, showing off more wonderful outfits designed by Mary Quant. Later issues included: My Exciting Life as a Reporter (1975); I'm Having Fun as a Travel Courier (1976); All about my Gift shop (1976); and My Glamorous Life as a Ballerina (1977).

Mary Quant's fashion logo was a bright-orange daisy, which is where her own doll design, Daisy, got its name from. From 1973 until 1983, Daisy really was the best-dressed doll around. Barbie might have been the 'popular type', but Daisy was like a more fashionable version of Sindy, always on the cutting-edge of new trends. She practically made Barbie look like trailer trash (well, she did have a caravan didn't she!). According to Jenny Lister, co-curator of the exhibition, “Mary Quant transformed the fashion system, overturning the dominance of luxury couture from Paris. She dressed the liberated woman, freed from rules and regulations, she made designer fashion affordable. Her clothes, inspired by London’s creative scene, made British street style the global influence it remains today.” From small boutique to international label, Quant revolutionized British fashion.

Vixy22 'Bought to replace the same doll my little girl was given acouple of years ago to help with potty training. That finally fell apart and she had to have another one! You get what you pay for so can not grumble. My little girl likes it and that’s all that matters.'

Sarah 'I brought this for Christmas for my daughter so she not had chance to play with it but I'm sure she will love it' Emz 'Little girl loves this, only problem was water leaked into the dolls body and is now trapped in the leg!!' Pippa 'Great little doll for toddlers to show care of a baby by feeding it then sitting the doll on the potty . Good aid for teaching potty training .' Daisey 'Is a lot smaller and cheaper quality than expected but regardless is great for the price. Step daughter loves it.' It was her clothes that were to set her apart at the time and her clothes that are making her sought-after today. Mary Quant Daisy Doll Clothes

The swinging sixties returned to London, at the V&A museum, with the first international retrospective on Mary Quant. The exhibition explores the years between 1955 and 1975, when Quant revolutionized the high street, harnessing mass production techniques and the youthful spirit of the times to create a new look for women. EVERYONE LOVES A DAISY Glamgrani 'My granddaughter likes this dolly. The “wee” feature is hit and miss but she likes bathing her dolly and it drains quite well afterwards. Good value in the sale'
