About this deal

Lots of head winds for Slaanesh since their book dropped with SBGL, KO, OBR and Khorne all vying for attention. We’ve seen a lot of Slaanesh armies podium but not always take first. Here we have first, with with an absolutely gorgeous army of mortals making this very accessible. We don’t often talk about this but apart from the Leaders and twinsouls you can build the rest of the army from the Vanguard kit. There are many powerful and versatile units across the Hedonites of Slaanesh faction, and some more, in particular, are about to see some significant benefits from the new edition. Sigvald, Prince of Slaanesh Blissbarb retinues are often accompanied by shuffling figures known as Homonculi - creatures that amass wherever the Carnivals go. They create the incredibly potent Blissbrew toxin utilised by the Archers, harvesting the remains of enemies and sacrificed captives. [1a] Combat The remaining stuff is quite positive. The Bladelords are good, bodyguards for your more delicate or important Heroes like Teclis or the Scinari Cathaller are extremely important if you have the space. The wardens are your bread and butter and youll be buying a fair number of them anyway so good start to include them here.

The Hag also has a more consistent combat profile. (not that you really want her combat anyway, but still) This is a hard one to assess because as of this writing Slaanesh isn’t doing so hot. Slaanesh mortals even worse so. So whether you want this is going to hinge entirely on whether or not your interested in pursuing a Hedonites of Slaanesh Mortals army regardless of how well you’ll do on the table. The Slaanesh Sybarites are the newest Age of Sigmar expansion to the Hedonites of Slaanesh army. As such the models are all, except one, brand-new and there are no discounted box available yet.If you are searching for details there’s also a tutorial for a Golden Hedonite Armour, different skin tones and Slaangor skin and claws. There have been a few bonus rules released to try and give Nighthaunt a boost, including most recently adding sub-factions in the form of Processions and adding in the Krulghast Cruciator in Broken Realms: Be’lakor. Nothing ever really worked, so we waited with bated breath to see if the warscroll cards in Arena of Shades would help out the most fragile Death faction out there. And folks? It ain’t lookin’ too grand. If two of the dice show the same value, they can be used to activate a Double ability. If three show the same value, they can be used for a Triple ability, and so on. Slaanesh disciples are divided between those searching for him, those pretending to have replaced him by ascending to godhood and those that do not care and thrive only in war and unending conquests.

Overall the way I view this box that it’s quite good if you’re only interested in casual play. Almost everything in the box is matched by something else in the army that does the role better so this ends up feeling like a collection of second stringers. If you don’t care about an optimum build it’s a decent way to get a bunch of stuff together fast. Final Verdict: Good Value Ossiarch Bonereapers – Mortisan Tithe EchelonUltimately the book is full of baffling disparities like this one and even with the book’s good units they don’t all add up to something that feels competitive. The army wants to survive long enough to generate Depravity but has no way to protect itself and its units costs more than comparable units in other books that have built-in defensive capabilities. They also want to do “enough damage” without killing you, but that damage output is less than what you get in other books for the same cost, and they have no way to stop themselves from killing your units. I’m sorry that this is the route we’ve had to take. The only other option in the shirt term would have been to stop producing top 3 articles, but we really didn’t want to do that. They coat their arrowheads in Blissbrew toxin, which overwhelms the senses of those they hit, unravelling an enemy’s carefully laid battleplans as their forces are overcome with pleasure and pain. It’s very distracting. The net effect is that the Hedonites battletome feels like it’s “copying the first book’s homework, but make it look like you didn’t.” with a minimal amount of effort to feel like something new. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing – both Daughters of Khaine and Disciples of Tzeentch are flavorfully similar to their previous iterations but include adequate updates for the environment they’re being put into. Meanwhile the Hedonites book went through several adjustments and got whole new units and should have felt much more well, new. Instead it feels like we have something dangerously close to being “Sylvaneth 2.0.” These inadequacies are even more stark when you put the book next to Daughters of Khaine. Let’s compare the two, shall we? The best case scenario is you deep strike this unit 12” away to pepper something and hold an area of the board. The problem is, why wouldn’t I use Chainrasps for that role? The Craventhrone aren’t going to kill a damn thing anyway, so I’d rather have double the wounds for the same cost. 12” range means you can’t keep them safe from any melee units, and they’re an inefficient screen, an inefficient ranged unit and an absolutely amazing sculpt. Seriously guys, these models are great. End on a high note, right? Wrapping things up
