About this deal

Your mission is simple: Eliminate as many of the suspects as possible, find the killer (or killers) and bring them to justice.

Dorset police have been authorised to formally charge Thomas Schreiber with the murder of Sir Richard, attempted murder of the injured woman and dangerous driving. The victim’s son, Sir David Sutton, told the court: “This was a senseless act that has taken away the life all too early of a generous, loving, elderly man who only wanted to enjoy his twilight years.” Police say a postmortem examination indicated that Sutton died from stab wounds to the chest. His partner, who is in her 60s, also suffered stab wounds. He added: “The level of hatred you all had for me was plain to see, no-one deserves to be assaulted.”The jury was also shown body-worn video footage of armed police officers arriving at Moorhill on the evening of the killing. PC George Bryant told the court he found Ms Schreiber with a “large laceration to the chest area and several small ones to the upper left side”. Schreiber is found guilty of murder and attempted murder after a three-week trial. The jury took just shy of five hours to make its decision.

The 66-year-old suffered up to 15 separate injuries. One of the injuries partially cut her spinal cord, leading to serious and ongoing consequences. The trial heard that the defendant was angry with his mother for “abandoning” his father, who suffered from depression, to move in with Sir Richard and accused her of being a “gold-digging bitch”. Yam denied murder and a jury failed to reach a verdict at his first trial. However he was convicted at a second trial in January 2009 and given a life sentence with a minimum term of 20 years Mr Sutton adds: "I take a great interest in serious crime and how it's investigated. I've got friends and indeed family still within the police and I keep in touch with what goes on in that way.Sutton owned a portfolio of leading hotels in London. His company owns the Sheraton Grand Park Lane and the Athenaeum, as well as three other venues.

The sudden and exceptional nature of the circumstances that led to his death have, I am sure, significantly exacerbated the family’s feelings of disbelief, distress and anger at the nature of his passing.” There's always room for improvement. Police officers are taken from society and society has these elements of sexism, homophobia and racism sadly within it. The defendant sent a message to a friend saying: "I’m so sad to report that my mind is consumed with hatred of the very worst kind towards my family. He also looked up: “Ever want to get revenge? Try this instead – New York Times”, and: “Why betrayal hurts so much and who seeks revenge from Psychology Today”. I launched forward and slapped him round the face, I said, ‘stop saying things, these things aren’t true'," she said. She can’t even wipe away her own tears. You destroyed everything, Mum can’t even hold her own grandchildren, she can’t give me a hug.”

Anne described this experience as feeling like a bystander looking through a window. At some point she recalled that Sir Richard came in to the room shouting and screaming. His body was found more than four weeks later buried under about five feet of paper, curled up in a foetal position, partially burnt and covered in wax You can't show leadership sitting behind a desk on a computer. You have to be there with the people to do it. Schreiber called his sister, Louisa Schreiber, 40, while on remand at HMP Winchester awaiting trial. She described how he began saying “hurtful” things about her including that “all I do is take, take take” and “how I took from Dad”.Ms Schreiber continued: “I believe that he stabbed me, I received some stab wounds from him and I remember looking at the knife in me and being surprised that it doesn’t hurt." The fatal incident happened at Sir Richard’s Moorhill estate near Gillingham, Dorset, which he shared with the Schreiber family following the separation of the defendant’s parents. It was the latest in a string of failed legal bids by Yam, which included a Court of Appeal ruling in 2017 that upheld his conviction
