About this deal

In this magical adventure story the reader is given a glimpse of the 'what-if' world as the adventures of Bunting and his fellow friends at the toy museum through the typical childhood game of 'Hide-and-Seek' is played out in the book. Then they will learn the importance of the conjunction ‘and’ and how it is used to extend a sentence. The children will consider the significance of the title of the book and they will make ‘wonderings’ about what might get lost. Follow the adventures of Bunting, an old toy cat, and his friends at the museum who come to life when the lights go out. As he follows the trail of clues through the museum, the normally reserved Bunting learns how to have fun in this affectionate picture book from one of Britain.

It would also be suitable for EAL students as the illustrations throughout are fantastic and would help bridge any gaps or misconceptions in the written text.

The children will listen to and begin to join in with the story ‘Lost in the toy museum’ by David Lucas. The resource is designed to be printed onto A3, and is provided as both a PDF and a Word version (so that you can edit if you want to). The children will then begin to make some simple inferences about characters from the story based on evidence from the book.
